Dear Readers,

The second issue of volume 11 is started.

For Acta IMEKO, this is the first editorial announcing the

start of an issue, since from now the submitted papers will be
published as soon as they are ready. This new publication policy
is in line with the actions towards the speed-up of the publication
time and the attracting of high-value papers.

This issue will include the papers of the general issue together

with the special issue segment of selected papers from the two
events organized by TC17, the IMEKO Technical Committee
on Robotic Measurement and managed by Prof Zafar Taqvi,
Research Fellow at the University of Houston Clear Lake in
Texas. Annually TC17 organizes "International Symposium on
Measurements and Control in Robotics" (ISMCR), a full-fledged
event, focusing on various aspects of international research,
applications, and trends of robotic innovations for benefit of
humanity, advanced human-robot systems, and applied
technologies, e.g. in the allied fields of telerobotics, telexistance,
simulation platforms, and environment, and mobile work
machines as well as virtual reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR),
and 3D modelling and simulation.

During the IMEKO Congress years, TC17 organizes only
"Topical Events." In 2021, TC17 organized two virtual topical
events, both following the COVID-19 restrictions. ISMCR2021
had a theme "Virtual Media Technologies for the Post COVID-

19 era" and the other TC17-VRISE was a jointly organized event
with the theme "Robotics for Risky Interventions and
Environmental Surveillance.”

These symposia are forums for the exchange of recent
research results and futuristic ideas in robotics technologies and
applications. It is of interest to a wide range of participants from
government agencies, relevant international institutions,
universities, and research organizations, working with futuristic
applications of automated vehicles. The presentation is also of
interest to the media as well the general public. The papers in the
special issue segment were specially selected from the above two
events.

We are sure that Acta IMEKO readers will found this special

issue a further source of ideas for their specific research fields.

Furter information about the published papers will be given

in June, as usual, in the Introductory Note.

We hope that you will enjoy your readings and that you can

confirm Acta IMEKO as your main source to find new solutions
and ideas and a valuable resource for spreading your results.
