This issue of Acta IMEKO comprises the second series of 

articles based on papers presented at the XX IMEKO World 
Congress, Busan, Republic of Korea, 9-12 September, 2012. 
This time Acta IMEKO includes the extended and updated 
versions of papers from TC2 (Photonics), TC11 (Metrological 
Infrastructures), TC18 (Measurement of Human Functions), 
TC21 (Mathematical Tools for Measurements) and TC22 
(Vibration Measurement), illustrating the wide range of facets 
encompassing the field of metrology. The issue starts with five 
research papers on mathematical tools (TC21), followed by four 
papers about vibration measurements (TC22), two papers on 
photonics (TC2) and one article on measuring human functions 
(TC18). 

An essential aspect of metrology is the international 
cooperation with respect to standardization and calibration. 
Acta IMEKO has introduced a section on technical notes, 
offering a position for contributions on metrological 
infrastructures and other important aspects of metrology, next 
to the section with regular research papers. The two technical 
notes in this issue are about the development of metrological 
infrastructures (TC11).  

We like to thank all those who have contributed to this issue: 
authors, reviewers, layout editors and journal managers. Special 
thanks go to the Section Editors Bernhard Zagar (TC2),
