Acta IMEKO, Title ACTA IMEKO ISSN: 2221-870X March 2018, Volume 7, Number 1, 1 ACTA IMEKO | www.imeko.org March 2018 | Volume 7 | Number 1 | 1 Section: A message to our readers Dear Reader, the first issue of Volume 7 of ACTA IMEKO is in your hands. It is the seventh year of publishing this open access scientific journal exploring all the fields of measurement science, methods, functionality, and applications; a science that drives and underpins much of what we do and experience in our everyday lives. This is a small but a rather important achievement for all the people involved in this venue. Let me take this occasion to thank all of them and especially prof. Paul P.L. Regtien, founding editor-in- chief, and prof. Paolo Carbone, former editor-in-chief of this journal who have ended their terms. They both worked together for making the journal grow with the help of an excellent editorial board, which is now upgraded with dr. Dirk Röske in the role of associated editor, prof. Francesco Lamonaca and dr. Nicola Pompeo in the role of copyeditors and prof. Rosario Morello, former and current layout editor, and prof. Sabrina Grassini in the role of article editor. ACTA IMEKO has now a steady flux of submitted papers from IMEKO events and scientific articles on measurement and instrumentation not related to an IMEKO event. It is listed under Elsevier Scopus and papers are cited and consistently read by the community of scientists working in measurement around the world. ACTA IMEKO was established to be a reference point of the state of art in the measurement field for all people involved directly or indirectly in measurements and to assist them in the translation of science into practice. Many scientists in the measurement field have shared and supported this project by joining the journal’s scientific committee, forming a selected pool of reviewers, who are the fundamental and most important factor in the process of reviewing and editing to improve the quality of papers. Papers are sought that address innovative solutions to the development of measurement science, includes all aspects both theoretical and practical with reference to measurements, whatever their uncertainty are, and in whatever fields of science or technology they occur. Published papers have to show advancing knowledge in the field of measurements in comparison themselves with other available measurement methods and techniques, discusses measurement uncertainty, and shows that it provides a new insight into the field of measurements. It is worth to spend time and energy to make sure that the overall quality of the ACTA IMEKO will improve in the only acceptable way: through a timely and strict review process, driven by the most competent and meticulous editors, and assigned to competent reviewers, whose comments will invaluably help authors to improve their papers. Thank you all for your contributions to ACTA IMEKO, as authors and readers. Let me now conclude with a warm thank to Paul and Paolo for the wonderful job that they have done and for the honour of this nomination and challenging position for me as the new editor-in-chief of ACTA IMEKO. Let me also thank the wonderful team of Editors and Reviewers for their hard and, mostly, obscure work. They have most of the merit for the present quality of this journal, and I hope that they will continue cooperating with me in the same great way that they did with Paul and Paolo. Let me thank some of the people that worked hard over the last years to produce this journal: Dirk Roeske and Rosario Morello. Last but not the least, let me thank also to German PTB for the continuous support provided to ACTA IMEKO and to Judit Farago at IMEKO. Sincerely, Dušan Agrež Editor-in-Chief of ACTA IMEKO ACTA IMEKO ISSN: 2221-870X March 2018, Volume 7, Number 1, 2 ACTA IMEKO | www.imeko.org March 2018 | Volume 7 | Number 1 | 2 Editorial to the Issue Vol.7.1 Dušan Agrež University of LJUBLJANA, Slovenia Section: EDITORIAL Citation: Dušan Agrež, Editorial to the Issue Vol 7, No 1 (2018), Acta IMEKO, vol. 7, no. 1, article 1, March 2018, identifier: IMEKO-ACTA-07 (2018)-01-1 Section Editor: Paul Regtien, The Netherlands Received March 27, 2018; In final form March 28, 2018; Published March 2018 Copyright: © 2018 IMEKO.
