The 2012 Bruno Rossi international Prize was awarded to the PI, Marco Tavani, and the AGILE team for the discovery of rapid gamma-ray flares over daily timescales from the Crab Nebula, thought to be a steady enough source of energy in all wavebands from optical to gamma rays [15].
