The DeepCore sub-array, consisting of 6 densely instrumented strings located at the bottom-center of IceCube, lowers the obser- vatory neutrino energy threshold to about 10GeV. DeepCore uses the surrounding IceCube instrumented volume as a veto for the background of cosmic ray induced through-going muon bundles, thus enhancing the detection of down-going neutrinos within the Deep Core volume.
