He is currently Associate Professor in Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau, China. Before moving back to China in 2013, he worked for AstraZeneca, Alderley Park, UK, for 12 years, progressing from Senior Scientist, to Associate Principal Scientist, and working as a DMPK Design Leader from 2011. He contributed to a number of drug discovery projects in the areas of oncology and led the development of high-throughput physicochemical assays. Prior to joining AstraZeneca, he developed new instruments with Sirius Analytical Instruments, UK, for 5 years and commercialised UV-based devices for pKa determination. His current research interests include permeability and physiochemical studies of drug molecules, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics as well as drug development. He has authored or co-authored over 70 articles in peer review journals. Dr. Tam is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
