Traditional Cultural Content in University Language Courses As an important part of the higher education system, the university language course not only carries the task of learning and using language and writing, but also shoulders the historical mission of inheriting and promoting the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation. Traditional culture is rich and colorful, covering ancient literature, philosophical thinking, morality and ethics, art and aesthetics, etc., which provides university language courses with profound cultural heritage and rich teaching resources. 2.1 Ancient Literature Ancient literature is the treasure of traditional cultural heritage in university language courses. From the classic poems of the pre-Qin period, such as the Classic of Poetry and Chu Ci, to the poems and essays of the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, to the poems and songs of the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the operas and novels, these works are like a scroll of history, which show the long history and culture of the Chinese nation and the unique national spirit. They not only have high literary value, but also contain rich philosophical thoughts, moral concepts and artistic aesthetics. Through studying these works, college students can gain a deeper understanding of the traditional culture of the Chinese nation and feel its profound ideological connotation and unique artistic charm. At the same time, these works are also important materials for college students to improve their literary literacy and language expression ability. 2.2 Philosophical Thought Ancient Chinese philosophical thought is profound and has had a profound influence on later generations. Confucianism, as the mainstream of traditional Chinese culture, emphasizes benevolence, propriety, righteousness and the middle way, advocates the moral concept of “benevolence” as the core, and focuses on personal cultivation and social harmony. Taoism, on the other hand, advocates the law of nature and the rule of inaction, emphasizing obedience to the laws of nature and the pursuit of inner peace and freedom. Mohist thought advocates love, non-aggression, and virtue, and advocates equality, fraternity, and frugality. These philosophical ideas are widely reflected in university language courses. By learning and understanding these philosophical ideas, college students can cultivate their critical thinking ability and humanistic spirit, learn to think from multiple perspectives and form independent opinions. 2.3 Morality and Ethics The ancient Chinese concept of morality and ethics is an important part of traditional culture, which emphasizes personal cultivation, family harmony and social harmony. The moral concepts of Confucianism, such as “benevolence”, “filial piety and fraternal duty”, “loyalty and trust”, are the concentrated embodiment of the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. These moral concepts emphasize care, respect and trust between people, and advocate harmony and courtesy. The moral concepts of Taoism, such as “doing nothing and governing” and “following nature”, emphasize following the laws of nature and pursuing inner peace and tranquility. By learning these moral and www.scholink.org/ojs/index.php/assc Advances in Social Science and Culture Vol. 7 No. 2, 2025 Published by SCHOLINK INC. 24 ethical concepts, college students can establish correct values and moral values, improve their moral qualities, and form sound personalities and good behaviors. 2.4 Art Aesthetic Ancient Chinese art aesthetic concepts are unique and profound, emphasizing aesthetic principles such as mood, rhythm and harmony. This aesthetic concept is fully reflected in literary works. The elegance and boldness of Tang and Song poems, the freshness and simplicity of Yuan operas, and the dramatic plots and vivid characters of Ming and Qing novels all show the unique artistic style and aesthetic pursuit of the Chinese nation. Through studying these works, college students can cultivate their aesthetic ability and art appreciation, learn to appreciate and savor the aesthetic elements in literary works, and improve their artistic cultivation and aesthetic taste. 3. The Current Situation of the Inheritance of Traditional Culture in University Language Courses As an important carrier for the inheritance and promotion of traditional Chinese culture in higher education system, the status and role of university language courses cannot be ignored. In the current teaching practice, the inheritance of traditional culture faces many challenges and problems, which are specifically manifested in the following aspects. 3.1 The Content of Teaching Materials is not Closely Connected with Traditional Culture The current arrangement of university language textbooks covers traditional culture to a certain extent, but its proportion is relatively low, and it mostly focuses on ancient poems and literary texts. This way of content setting makes it difficult for students to gain a comprehensive and systematic understanding of traditional culture, thus limiting the depth of traditional culture inheritance. At the same time, some textbooks are too much in favor of modern literature in content selection, ignoring the core status and value of traditional culture in language teaching, further weakening the effect of traditional culture inheritance. This status quo that the content of teaching materials is not closely connected with traditional culture undoubtedly has a negative impact on the inheritance of traditional culture. 3.2 Single Teaching Method, Lack of Innovation In the teaching practice of university language courses, some teachers still use the traditional “indoctrination” teaching method, paying too much attention to the one-way transmission of knowledge, but neglecting the active participation and personal experience of students. This kind of single, boring teaching method is difficult to stimulate students' interest in learning, especially in traditional culture, thus affecting the effect of traditional culture inheritance. In addition, the lack of innovative teaching methods and means also makes it difficult to adapt the inheritance of traditional culture to the needs of modern education. In the context of the era of informationization and diversification, students need more interactive and exploratory learning methods, and traditional teaching methods are obviously difficult to meet this demand. www.scholink.org/ojs/index.php/assc Advances in Social Science and Culture Vol. 7 No. 2, 2025 Published by SCHOLINK INC. 25 3.3 Students' Lack of Identification with Traditional Culture Against the background of fast-paced lifestyle and information explosion in modern society, students' cognition and identification with traditional culture gradually weaken. They tend to be more inclined to pursue fashionable and trendy cultural elements, have insufficient awareness of the importance of traditional culture, and lack the consciousness of active learning and inheritance. The formation of this mentality is related to both the cultural environment of modern society and the lack of traditional culture education in the education system. In the university language courses, if there is a lack of cultivation and guidance for students' traditional cultural identity, the inheritance of traditional culture will face serious challenges. 4. The Value of Traditional Culture in Modern Society Although traditional culture faces many challenges in modern society, its unique value and charm are still irreplaceable. Traditional culture is the foundation and soul of the Chinese nation, and it is the concentrated manifestation of the national spirit, and its value in modern society is mainly manifested in the following aspects. 4.1 Enhancement of Cultural Identity and National Cohesion Traditional culture is an important symbol of national identity and cultural identity, and is the source of national cohesion. Through the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture, it can enhance national pride and sense of belonging, and promote national unity and social stability. In today's globalized and diversified world, where various cultures intermingle and collide with each other, the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture is of vital significance to the maintenance of national cultural security and national dignity. It is not only the embodiment of national self-confidence, but also an important part of national soft power. Strengthening the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture through university language courses and other educational channels can enhance students' sense of identity and pride in national culture, thus strengthening national cohesion and centripetal force. 4.2 Guidance and Shaping of Moral Ethics and Values Moral and ethical concepts in traditional culture are important resources for moral construction and value guidance in modern society. The moral concepts of “benevolence and love”, “filial piety and fraternal duty”, “loyalty and trust” in Confucianism, and “ruling by doing nothing” and “following the rules of nature” in Taoism are important resources for the moral construction and value guidance of modern society. and Taoism's moral concepts such as “doing nothing to rule” and “following nature” all contain profound philosophies and life wisdom. These moral and ethical concepts have far-reaching guiding significance for the moral construction of modern society. Guiding students to learn and understand these moral and ethical concepts through university language courses and other educational channels can help them establish correct values and moral concepts, improve their moral qualities, and promote social harmony and progress. At the same time, the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture can also help shape the common values of society and enhance social cohesion and stability. www.scholink.org/ojs/index.php/assc Advances in Social Science and Culture Vol. 7 No. 2, 2025 Published by SCHOLINK INC. 26 4.3 Inspiration and Promotion of Art Aesthetics and Cultural Innovation The concept of art aesthetics in traditional culture has an important inspirational role for modern art and cultural innovation. The aesthetic pursuits of mood, flavor and harmony in ancient Chinese literature, as well as the unique expressive methods and creative techniques in calligraphy, painting, music, opera and other art forms are valuable assets that modern art and cultural innovation can draw on. Through university language courses and other educational channels, guiding students to learn and appreciate the artistic aesthetic concepts of traditional culture can broaden their artistic vision and creative ideas, and stimulate their innovative spirit and creativity. At the same time, the inheritance and promotion of traditional culture also provide rich resources and sources of inspiration for the prosperity of modern cultural industry. In the modern society, the competition of cultural industry is getting more and more intense, and the unique charm and profound heritage of traditional culture is the important support for the innovative development of cultural industry. 5. Strategies for Promoting the Integration of Traditional Cultural Heritage and Modern Values In order to effectively promote the in-depth inheritance of traditional culture and the organic integration of modern values in university language courses, we need to adopt a series of scientific and systematic strategies to ensure that the traditional culture has new vitality and vigor in modern society. 5.1 Digging Deep into the Essence of Traditional Culture and Realizing Its Docking with Modern Values In the teaching practice of university language courses, we should devote ourselves to digging into the essence of traditional culture, exploring its inherent philosophical thoughts, moral concepts and artistic aesthetic concepts, and connecting them with the needs and values of modern society. Specifically, we can select those traditional cultural contents with contemporary significance and universal value, and guide students to deeply understand the rich connotation and unique value of traditional culture through meticulous analysis and interpretation. At the same time, we should also closely integrate traditional culture with the hot issues of modern society, and encourage students to use the wisdom of traditional culture to scrutinize the reality, think about the problems and seek solutions. This teaching method can not only enhance students' sense of cultural identity, but also cultivate their critical thinking and innovation ability. 5.2 Innovative Teaching Methods and Means to Enhance the Inheritance Effect In order to effectively stimulate students' interest in traditional culture and improve the inheritance effect of traditional culture, we must constantly innovate teaching methods and means. On the one hand, we can adopt diversified teaching methods such as interactive, discussion, case study, etc., and encourage students to actively participate in classroom discussions and express their own views and opinions. This kind of teaching method can fully mobilize students' enthusiasm and initiative and make them learn traditional culture in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. On the other hand, we can also make full use of modern technological means, such as multimedia and the Internet, to assist teaching. www.scholink.org/ojs/index.php/assc Advances in Social Science and Culture Vol. 7 No. 2, 2025 Published by SCHOLINK INC. 27 By displaying pictures, videos, audios and other materials related to traditional culture, we can enhance the intuitiveness and vividness of teaching and make students feel the charm of traditional culture more deeply. In addition, we can also organize various forms of extracurricular activities and practical activities, such as cultural lectures, book clubs, field trips and so on, in order to enrich students' extracurricular life and deepen their understanding and experience of traditional culture. 5.3 Strengthen the Practical Teaching Link to Promote the Living Inheritance of Traditional Culture Practical teaching is an indispensable and important part of traditional culture inheritance in university language courses. We should let students personally participate in the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture by organizing various forms of practical activities, such as literary creation, drama performance, calligraphy and painting. These practical activities can not only improve students' practical ability and innovation ability, but also enhance their sense of identity and pride in traditional culture. In the practical activities, students can personally experience the charm of traditional culture and feel its unique artistic style and aesthetic value. At the same time, by participating in these practical activities, students can also combine the traditional cultural knowledge they have learned with the actual needs of modern society, try to integrate traditional cultural elements into modern works, and realize the modern transformation and innovative development of traditional culture. 5.4 Utilize Modern Scientific and Technological Means to Promote the Digital Inheritance of Traditional Culture With the rapid development of modern science and technology, digital technology provides a new opportunity for the inheritance and development of traditional culture. We should make full use of digital technology, virtual reality and other modern technological means to present traditional culture to the public in a more vivid and intuitive way. Specifically, we can produce traditional culture-related digital museums, virtual reality exhibitions and so on, so that students can feel the charm of traditional culture immersively in a virtual environment. This kind of digital inheritance not only breaks the limitation of time and space, allowing students to learn and appreciate traditional culture anytime and anywhere, but also enhances students' interest and participation in learning through interactive experience and other means. In addition, we can also develop traditional culture-related cell phone applications or online courses, etc., to provide students with a more convenient and efficient way of learning. 5.5 Promote the Modern Transformation and Innovative Development of Traditional Culture to Realize Its Contemporary Value The modern transformation and innovative development of traditional culture is a key link in the integration of traditional cultural heritage and modern values. We should actively promote the modern transformation and innovative development of traditional culture on the basis of inheriting traditional culture, so as to make traditional culture revitalized and energized in modern society. Specifically, we can combine traditional cultural elements with modern design concepts to create cultural products with national characteristics and modern aesthetic needs. These cultural products can not only meet the www.scholink.org/ojs/index.php/assc Advances in Social Science and Culture Vol. 7 No. 2, 2025 Published by SCHOLINK INC. 28 aesthetic needs of modern people, but also inherit and promote the essence of traditional culture. At the same time, we can also combine traditional culture with modern science and technology to develop new products and services that are innovative and practical. For example, we can utilize the wisdom and concepts of traditional culture to develop new products with environmental protection, energy saving and other characteristics; or integrate traditional cultural elements into modern service industries, such as tourism, catering and so on, to enhance the quality of service and cultural connotation. These modern transformations and innovative developments can not only inject new vitality into the inheritance and development of traditional culture, but also meet the actual needs of modern society and make positive contributions to economic and social development. 6.
