Medicinal chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) belongs to the 

Asteraceae family and has a place in the pharmaceutical, 

cosmetic, perfumery, personal care and beverage industries. 

Due to the high value of medicinal chamomile essential oil in 

the world market, it is often cultivated for commercial 

purposes.

Introduction 

Medicinal chamomile -  a butterfly grass belonging to the family Asteraceae. The plant has a smooth 

foundation and small roots up to 20-92 cm in height. The flowers consist of white gulbargs and conical 

yellow center. Molasses can bloom in spring and autumn, but in most cases it blooms from the end

Moth is one of the most important medicinal hereds. It is possible to get a lot of natural and very 

valuable products from it. It is widely grown commercially for essential oil, which is mainly present 

in their flowers. Medicinal chamomile essential oil is used in various industries, e.g. pharmaceuticals, 

cosmetics, perfumes, personal care and beverage industry. The moss flower also contains valuable 

components such as terpenoids, flavonoids, and other compounds with registered pharmacological 

activity. In addition, dried medicinal chamomile flowers are used to make tea, as well as various 

products (e.g. skin creams). Finally, the medicinal chamomile is grown as a scenic plant and is added 

to the variety of flowers.

Russia, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Usa, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are major essential 

oil producers of healing testicle. 

The average yield of medicinal oil flowers is 3.5 tons per hectare (3,500 kg = 9490.68$). 

The average yield of dried medicinal oil flowers is 0.9 tons per hectare (900 kg = 2440.32$). 

The average yield of medicinal moss essential oils is from 0.3 to 0.5% of the dry flower. Thus, from 

2.5 to 3.5 kg of essential oils per hectare can be distinguished.
