The theme of the Workshop was discussed under four sub themes: Attitude and Practice in: a) Research, Education and Profession in a Hostile Environment b) Research and Research Administration in the Muslim World c) Particular Fields in Science and Technology d) Future Science and Technology: What Should Be Done? The=* were twelve papers presented in six workshops of 1 ‘h hour each. The titles and authors of the papers are as follows: Dr. Essam Ismail - Pro$les of Muslim Students in USA: Population Dr. M. Najm - Islamic Directives of Science and Technology Renaissance Dr. Ilham Altalib - Islamization of Medicine The inaugural session was a ceremonial one, beginning with the inspiring speech of Dr. F&a J. Al'alwam-entitled "The Islamic Approach to Science". Dr. A. 'Abusulayman also warmed up the participants in his vigorous style with his speech, "How to Develop a Creative Scientific Mind". Dr. M. A. K. M i reiterated the Workshop format. All the papers presented were discuss- ed at length. Significant problem areas were identified and solutions offered by the participants. The concluding session consisted of the summary of the Workshop given by Dr. Iqbd J. Unus and some concluding remarks by Drs. Barzinji, Al-'Alwan, Abusulayman and Lodhi. It was recommended that a follow-up committee be set up to look into ways and means for implementing the recommendations of the Workshops. The members of the follow-up committee are: Adel Bakr, Mustafa Fahmi, Omar H. Kasule (secretary), Tariq Kergaye, M. A. K. Lodhi (Chairman), Yamin Zubairi, and an IMA's representative.
