The Problem of Empiricism in Comparative Political Research by Muslims: A Research Agenda	1992.0	11	.pdf	application/pdf	4588	157	41	What I am proposing to Muslim comparativists is that they examine the Muslim world, both past and present, and then describe as objectively as possible those actual characteristics, if any, which distinguish Muslim “political culture” from the non-Muslim world, diir a1 Isliim from diir a1 kufi, not just to denounce Muslim practice for its departures from Islamic values but to accurately understand and predict what the practice is and will be in order to move it towards the Islamic ideal.
