They often reflect the nomadic past, Islamic influence, and the rich history of the Silk Road. - Uzbek society places great importance on respecting elders and valuing their wisdom. As a result, many proverbs in Uzbek emphasize the advice and experiences of older generations. - Uzbek proverbs are known for their poetic language, often using alliteration, assonance, and other literary devices to enhance their expressive quality. - Uzbek proverbs have been passed down through generations through oral tradition and are deeply rooted in folklore and storytelling. Let's explore some common proverbs related to numbers and analyze their semantics: 1. “Yetti yoshga yetguncha yer to'qmog'in yersan, yetmish yoshga yetguncha yelto'qmog'in yersan”. Meaning: “As a child, you stumbled, fell and hit the ground.” And when you grow up, you will hear the bitter and sweet words of people all your life, you will even feel their blows. Don't worry about it, get used to it. 2. “Ikki o’n besh bir o’ttiz”. Meaning: One thing is exactly the same second thing. 3. “Sanamay sakkiz dema”. Meaning: Before speaking about everything, you should think carefully in order to say politely. 4. “Qo’l qo’lni yuvar, ikki qo’l- betni”. Meaning: People should not live alone, they should join the crowd, build friendship or partnership. 5. “Bir kun ming kun emas”. Meaning: "One night is not a thousand nights". This proverb is used temporarily, enduring no difficulty when comforting someone who complains better to spend the night in an uncomfortable place they say when they come.[1. p.37]. 6. “Two heads are better than one.” Meaning: Collaboration and combined intelligence lead to better solutions and decisions compared to individual efforts. 7. “The third time's the charm.” Meaning: After two unsuccessful attempts, success is more likely on the third try. 8. “A penny saved is a penny earned.” Meaning: Saving money is as valuable as earning money, as both contribute to one's financial well-being. 9. “One man's trash is another man's treasure.” Meaning: Something considered worthless by one person might be highly valuable to someone else, often used metaphorically. 106 AMERICAN Journal of Language, Literacy and Learning in STEM Education www. grnjournal.us 10. “Six of one, half a dozen of the other.” Meaning: Two options have the same or similar outcomes, making the choice between them insignificant.[2,p.89].
