The features of the organization of training at a technical university and the specifics of the teaching methods used and the degree of independence of students are also analyzed. Currently, when teaching English, the issue of developing students' independent work skills is especially important. Introduction: In modern didactics, independent work of students is considered, on the one hand, as a type of educational work carried out without direct intervention, but under the guidance of a teacher, and on the other hand, as a means of involving students in independent activities. cognitive activity, development of methods for organizing such activities. The effect of students’ independent work can only be obtained when it is organized and implemented in the educational process as an integral system that permeates all stages of students’ education at a university. Independent work is a type of educational activity carried out by the student without direct contact with the teacher or controlled by the teacher indirectly through special educational materials; an integral and mandatory link in the learning process, which involves, first, the individual work of students in accordance with the instructions of the teacher or textbook or curriculum. The main features of the organization of education at a university are the specifics of the teaching methods used and the degree of independence of students. The teacher only directs the cognitive activity of the student, who himself carries out the cognitive activity. Independent work completes the tasks of all types of educational work. No knowledge that is not supported by independent activity can become the true property of a person [1, 79]. Literature review: The issues of developing students' independent work skills in technical universities are being actively studied by modern scientists. Let's consider some views and approaches of researchers in this area [7]: 1. System approach (A.A. Verbitsky, S.I. Arkhangelsky): - The need to create a holistic system for organizing independent work. - Integration of classroom and extracurricular independent activities. - Use of active learning methods that simulate future professional activities. 2. Competence-based approach (I.A. Zimnyaya, A.V. Information technology approach (E.S. Polat, M.Yu. Bukharkina): - Use of modern information technologies in independent work. - Students mastering skills in working with electronic resources and databases. - Application of distance learning technologies. 4. Personality-oriented approach (E.V. Bondarevskaya, V.V. Serikov): - Taking into account individual characteristics, requests and interests of students. - Development of cognitive activity, creative potential of the individual. - Formation of readiness for self-education and self-development. The forms of such work can be different - these are different types of homework. Technical universities draw up schedules of independent work for a period using semester-long curricula and training programs. Schedules stimulate, organize, force rational use of time. Work must be systematically monitored by teachers. The basis of independent work is a scientific and theoretical course, a complex of knowledge acquired by students [2]. Discussions: Developing independent work skills in students is an important task of modern education. Let's look at some features of this process: 1. Motivation and need for independent work: - Formation of a conscious need for independent learning among students. - Development of cognitive activity, interest in deepening knowledge. - Understanding the practical significance of independent work for future professional activities. 2. Organization of independent work: - Planning and rational distribution of time for independent work. - Selection of effective methods and techniques for independent work. - Use of modern information technologies. 3. Development of self-organization skills: - Formation of skills to set goals, plan, control and adjust your activities. - Development of self-discipline, perseverance, responsibility. - Development of time management skills. 4. Culture of intellectual work: - Mastering rational techniques for working with information. - Development of skills in analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization of knowledge. - Formation of a culture of reading, note-taking, generalization. 5. Individual approach and consulting support: - Taking into account the individual characteristics and needs of students. - Providing the necessary consulting assistance and methodological support. - Creation of a favorable psychological environment for independent work. The development of independent work skills in the field of reading, speaking, writing is carried out on the basis of a communicative approach, with the help of real language situations (interviews with specific people, excerpts from speeches, telephone conversations, etc.). For the development of reading skills, as practice has shown, texts of small volume and varied content (magazine articles, interviews, excerpts from literary works, websites, questionnaires, advertising articles, excerpts from encyclopedias, etc.) are effective. The tasks for these texts may be different [12,131]. 1. Answer “true” or “false.” 2. Find factual errors in the text. 5. Fill in the gaps in the text, restoring the information. 6. Express your personal attitude to what you read. 7. Determine the meaning of highlighted words, etc. In the field of speaking, the best option for organizing independent work is tasks for staging a role- playing game and preparing for a discussion of the problem posed. In developing the skill of independent work with English writing, you can use the following communicative tasks: 1. Drawing up a personal and official (business) letter. 2. Description of the event. 3. Writing advertising text. 4. Preparation of interviews. An important part of this work should, of course, be grammar. Using an analytical approach to working on grammar, the teacher initially gives the student the opportunity to independently formulate the rules for using grammatical structures or forms, and then compare them with the rules given in the textbook. Extremely important, as already mentioned, is the activity of the teacher in teaching students to effectively independently work with dictionaries and reference books. It is necessary to explain to students the basic principles of organizing such literature, the general principles of working with it, the general structure of reference literature on various fields of knowledge that a student may need in the process of independent work. Conclusion: Thus, following practical advice and recommendations from the teacher on the organization and content of independent work will allow the student to successfully advance in mastering a foreign language. Effective development of independent work skills among students requires an integrated approach, including motivational, organizational, personal and methodological aspects.
