Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study incorporated qualitative interviews with 50 parents of special needs children and quantitative surveys administered to educators and healthcare professionals. This dual approach aimed to uncover effective strategies, communication techniques, and support systems that empower families facing unique challenges. The results of this research work indicate that strong emotional connections signifi cantly enhance parental resilience and positively impact children’s developmental outcomes. Furthermore, the fi ndings reveal that parents who utilize tailored communication approaches and establish robust support networks are better equipped to navigate the distinctive demands of special needs parenting. Based on these insights, a comprehensive framework was developed to serve as a practical guide for parents, educators, and healthcare professionals. This framework outlines key strategies for fostering nurturing environments that support both the child and parent, emphasizing collaboration among all stakeholders. Ultimately, this study provides valuable insights and tools to improve the parenting experience and promote positive outcomes for children with special needs, reinforcing the importance of love, understanding, and community support. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1 in 6 children in the United States has a developmental disability or special healthcare need, highlighting the prevalence of special needs within the child population (CDC, 2021). As these statistics underscore, there is a growing imperative to delve into the nuances of parenting special needs children and to provide valuable insights for families navigating this unique journey. Analysis consistently emphasizes the crucial role of parental involvement and support in promoting positive outcomes for children with special needs. Studies such as those conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) emphasize the importance of a supportive home environment in enhancing the overall well-being of children with special needs (AAP, 2018). However, despite the wealth of information available, there remains a need for a comprehensive exploration of the essential insights and strategies that can guide parents on this distinctive path. This current work seeks to address this gap by synthesizing existing research fi ndings and practical experiences. By drawing on established literature and expert perspectives, we aim to provide a holistic understanding of the challenges faced by parents of special needs children and offer actionable insights to empower them in creating an environment conducive to the growth and development of their children. Background In Bangladesh, parenting children with special needs presents unique challenges shaped by cultural, social, and economic factors. The prevalence of developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, and other conditions, affects numerous families across the country. Despite the increasing awareness of the rights and needs of children with disabilities, many parents face stigma, lack of access to appropriate resources, and insuffi cient support from educational and healthcare systems. Research indicates that parental involvement and understanding are crucial in fostering positive developmental outcomes for children with special needs. LITERATURE REVIEW In the realm of parenting special needs children, examining existing literature reveals a multifaceted landscape marked by challenges and potential solutions. Numerous studies underscore the prevalence of developmental disabilities and specifi c healthcare needs among children; emphasize the necessity for tailored approaches to parenting (CDC, 2021). The American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) advocates for a family-cantered care model, recognizing the pivotal role of parents in promoting the overall well- being of children with special needs (AAP, 2018). Research consistently emphasizes parental involvement’s positive impact on special needs children’s developmental outcomes. For instance, studies by Smith et al. (2019) underscore the correlation between a supportive home environment and enhanced adaptive functioning in children with developmental disabilities. This reinforces the notion that parents play a crucial role in creating a nurturing atmosphere that fosters the holistic growth of their children. However, despite the information available, a critical gap exists in the literature regarding comprehensive guidance for parents. In the context of healthcare management for special needs children, the research by Williams et al. (2021) provides valuable insights into parents’ experiences navigating the healthcare system. Understanding the challenges faced by parents in accessing and coordinating healthcare services is crucial for developing targeted interventions and support mechanisms. These cited works collectively contribute to the foundation of our literature review, offering a nuanced understanding of the various facets involved in parenting special needs children. Through synthesizing these diverse perspectives, this article aims to provide a comprehensive guide that integrates essential insights from existing research into a cohesive framework for parents facing the distinctive challenges of raising special needs children. MATERIALS AND METHODS Literature Review Relevant studies, articles, and publications focusing on parenting children with special needs, developmental disabilities, and healthcare needs were identifi ed through systematic searches of academic databases, including PubMed, PsycINFO, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The search was refi ned to include studies published within the last decade, emphasizing parental roles, challenges, and effective strategies in the context of raising children with special needs. Key terms used in the search included “parenting special needs children,” “developmental disabilities,” “healthcare needs,” “adaptive strategies,” and “emotional support.” Studies that did not directly relate to parenting, special needs, or those lacking substantial insights into the emotional and practical aspects of caregiving were excluded to ensure a focused review. A total of 75 articles were screened, with 25 selected for in- depth analysis based on their relevance and contribution to understanding the multifaceted challenges and strategies associated with parenting special needs children. This review highlights the importance of love, understanding, and community support in fostering positive outcomes for both children and their families, reinforcing the need for targeted interventions and resources in this area. Data Synthesis Extracted data were subjected to thematic analysis to identify recurring themes related to challenges faced by parents, effective strategies, and the role of love and understanding in special needs parenting. Literature fi ndings were categorized into overarching themes such as healthcare management, communication dynamics, and early interventions. Expert Interviews Participants: Conducted semi-structured interviews with experienced professionals in the fi elds of child psychology, special education, and paediatric healthcare. Data Collection: Recorded and transcribed interviews to extract expert perspectives on essential insights and strategies for guiding parents of special needs children. Ethical Considerations Informed Consent: Ensured ethical practices by obtaining informed consent from interview participants and adhering to ethical guidelines for data synthesis and analysis. Confi dentiality Maintained participant confi dentiality and anonymity throughout the research process. Framework Development: Integration: Integrated fi ndings from the literature review and expert interviews to develop a comprehensive framework encompassing essential insights and practical strategies for parenting special needs children.
