The role of the press in society, its role in obtaining and disseminating information, as well as its harmonization with modern technologies, are detailed. The article also provides information about the development of the regional press and its importance in regional issues. Introduction During the years of independence, a solid system of creating educational literature for educational institutions and communicating to students was created in our country, with the publication of textbooks and teaching aids in seven languages that are being taught in Uzbekistan. The material and technical base of information and resource and information and library centers is updated and modern electronic library systems are operating. A Look at the History of the Formation of the "Chronicle of the Press of the Republic of Uzbekistan". When we look at the history of the formation of the "Chronicle of the Press of the Republic of Uzbekistan," it is necessary to specifically mention the National Book Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan. On January 3, 1926, a decree of the Government of Uzbekistan "On the establishment of the Samarkand State Book Chamber" was announced in Samarkand, which was the capital of Uzbekistan until 1930. The Book Chamber was affiliated with the Academic Center of the institutions under the People's Commissariat of Uzbekistan. In 1934, it was established in Tashkent. Since 1928, the National Book Chamber of Uzbekistan has been compiling the "Chronicle of Books of Uzbekistan." Since 1931, the "Chronicle of Journal Articles" has been compiled in Russian, and since 1938, in Uzbek. The "Chronicle of Newspaper Articles" began in 1969. By the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 3 dated January 7, 1994, the status of the National Book Chamber was granted. Until 2002, the National Book Chamber operated under the State Press Committee of Uzbekistan, and afterward, it was incorporated into the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi. According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 302 dated November 14, 2011, the functions of the National Book Chamber were transferred to the National American Journal of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences Volume 26 July - 2024 P a g e | 35 www.americanjournal.org Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi. Within the structure of the National Library named after Alisher Navoi, the task of state bibliography was assigned to the service of forming the National Bibliographic Information Database, and every month, a "Chronicle of the Press of the Republic of Uzbekistan" is created at the National Library named after Alisher Navoi. In preparing the chronicle, we directly refer to bibliographic descriptions. Without studying the bibliographic description according to standards, we cannot compile the chronicle, i.e., the bibliographic index. The bibliographic description is compiled in accordance with O‘zDSt 1214:2009 "Bibliographic description of the document. General requirements and rules for compilation." Abbreviations in the description are applied according to O‘zDSt 1215:2009 and GOST 7.12-93 "Abbreviations of Russian words and phrases in the bibliographic description." Since 2021-2022, the employees of the service for forming the National Bibliographic Information Database of the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi have been providing methodological assistance to the information-library centers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the regions, and the city of Tashkent, and have been selflessly helping regional bibliographers in preparing the "Chronicle of the Regional Press." Since January 2022, the Information-Bibliography Service of the Sayido Nasafiy Information-Library Center of the Kashkadarya region has also been providing bibliographic descriptions of books, monographs, journals, and newspapers published in the Kashkadarya region, preparing the "Chronicle of the Regional Press" every quarter. "Chronicle of the Regional Press" is a quarterly bibliographic index, consisting of sections such as "Chronicle of Books," "Chronicle of Journal Articles," and "Chronicle of Newspaper Articles." In the "Chronicle of Books," information is provided about mass-political literature, scientific monographs and collections of articles, popular science publications, textbooks designed for educational institutions, educational-methodical publications for teachers and students, practical manuals, reference books and dictionaries, literary works, publications for children and teenagers, scientific-technical information publications, and bibliographic manuals of major enterprises and organizations in the region. The index of names in the "Chronicle of Books" is organized alphabetically. The "Chronicle of Journal Articles" provides information about articles published in the journal "Sohibqiron Yulduzi," which has been published since 2010 on the initiative of the well-known poet and promoter of spirituality, the late Ismoil To'xtameshov. The journal includes sections on "Timur Studies," "Historiography," and "Research." Since the third quarter of 2022, the "Chronicle of Journal Articles" has included the journal "QarDu Xabarlari" from Qarshi State University, the journal "Social Sciences" from Qarshi Engineering Economics Institute from the fourth quarter, and the journal "Innovative Technologies" from the first quarter of 2023. The "Chronicle of Journal Articles" contains an "Alphabetical Index of Journal Names" and an "Index of Names," both organized alphabetically. The "Chronicle of Newspaper Articles" provides information about the most important and topical analytical, critical, artistic, socio-philosophical, political-legal materials published in more than 25 newspapers in the Kashkadarya region. The newspaper articles index includes an "Index of Newspaper Names," an "Index of Names," and an "Index of Headlines," all organized alphabetically. Currently, the chronicles of the press of the Republic and the regions are being highlighted on social networks. The convenience of the press chronicle lies in the fact that users do not have to leaf through journals and newspapers. Since the articles are divided into sections by field and then further subdivided into smaller sections, and the indexes are arranged alphabetically, users can find information quickly and easily. For specialists, it saves time spent searching for information in catalogs and card files, providing convenience by allowing them to find information quickly and easily online using the press chronicle.
