Strong writing abilities may increase students' chances of success. Language cannot exist without writing. For all students to meet their educational and employment requirements, they must have strong writing abilities. The process approach places an emphasis on writing exercises that take students from idea generation and data collection all the way to the publication of a completed text. The process approach is learner- centered and takes into account the needs, expectations, goals, learning styles, skills, and knowledge of the students. writing skills, writing abilities, learning style, learner-centered. One of the four LSRW (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) skills is writing. It is a system of written symbols that represent the sounds, syllables, and words of a language using a variety of mechanisms, including capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and word form and function. [8] The writing processes and rules, including grammar rules and writing exercises, must be taught to students by teachers in order to motivate them to develop strong writing skills. [7] Due to their reliance on electronic devices or gadgets that offer instant or ready-made answers or results that are available on the internet, students today lack writing skills. Instead, they spend most of their time using their smart phones. Instead of learning the language, they waste valuable time by researching what others are doing. Students who are proficient writers naturally succeed in communicating their ideas and achieving their objectives. For their many advantages and future success, they ought to learn how to write. The goal of the writing process is to teach students how to write coherently, with the proper grammar structure, and with acceptable spelling. [4] Harmer lays stress on the essentiality of the writing skill saying “The reasons for teaching writing to students of English as a foreign language include reinforcement, language development, learning style, and most importantly, writing as a skill in its own right”. [6] Janet Emig described writing as “a unique mode of learning” involving the active participation of both the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Researchers have agreed that writing enhances thinking skills; the higher cognitive functions of analysis and synthesis seem to develop most fully with the support of written language.[5] American Journal of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences Volume 9, Feb., 2023 P a g e | 93 www.americanjournal.org Writing is intended to express concepts, facts, and ideas in simple and clear language. In order to succeed both academically and professionally, students must learn the craft of effective writing. [9] All students must possess strong writing abilities in order to fulfill their academic and professional requirements. Several justifications for the significance of writing abilities include the following:. • To write technical documents, research papers, and put forth the right facts and information. • In searching and obtaining a job. • To make presentations and reports, etc. • For improving communication skills. • For improving creativity, exploration, and essential for self-understanding. Graham Stanley defines “the process approach treats all writing as a creative act which requires time and positive feedback to be done well. In process writing, the teacher moves away from being someone who sets students a writing topic and receives the finished product for correction without any intervention in the writing process itself”. “Process Approach stresses writing activities which move learners from the generation of ideas and the collection of data through to the publication of a finished text” -Tribble C “Process writing evolved as reaction to the product approach”. – Jordan [3] According to the aforementioned definitions, a process approach is learner-centered because it takes into account the needs, expectations, goals, learning styles, skills, and knowledge of the students. In order to develop language learning skills, there are various approaches that can be used, including the Process Approach, Lexical Approach, Literature-Based Approach, Grammar-Based Approach, Situational Approach, Structural Approach, Genre Approach, Task-Based Approach, and Product Approach. Process Approach is superior to other strategies in terms of benefits. It takes time for language learning skills to develop, much like a plant grows. Language learning skills development is not like building a wall. No skill can be learned in a day. The Process Approach consists of eight sequential stages of writing techniques that help students write freely and produce high-quality texts. [16] “Writing is a process which involves several identifiable steps”. – Merriwether. [2] “The Process Approach focuses on the steps involved in creating a piece of work”. – Nuan. [1] According to Steele, the process approach entails eight steps: brainstorming, planning/structuring, mind mapping, writing the first draft, receiving peer feedback, editing, writing the final draft, and receiving feedback from teachers and evaluation. Conclusion: In conclusion, it is important to understand that writing is a highly complex cognitive activity in which the writer must demonstrate simultaneous control of several variables. The success chances of students may be improved by strong writing abilities. Writing is a crucial component of language. The process approach is learner-centered and takes into account the needs, expectations, goals, learning preferences, skills, and knowledge of the learners. Using this process-based approach, students gain. [12] References 1. Saidaliyev, S. (2004). Essays on methods of teaching foreign languages. 2. Саидалиев, С. (2004).
