But sometimes it is not necessary to use it during the speech. This article explains its pros and cons in detail. words, lexicologic expressions, poetic unity, literature, acronyms, new method, phrases, synonyms. Introduction A tautology is an expression that says the same thing twice but in a different way. Tautology is a special and unintentional use of the same root words in a phrase, sentences or unreasonable repetition of the same word in a statement. The term is formed by combination of the ancient Greek words "the same" and "words". It seems basically being redundant saying the same thing twice. So why would anybody say the same thing again and again? To use tautology is necessary for some reasons and also there are different expressions that commonly used in the English language. They may be also listened in everyday conversations. When people may hear tautology: ● everyday conversations ● poetry ● songs ● literature ● acronyms ● advertising If tautology is used in poetry, people are talking about rhyming and it is a way to give an image inside in a painting picture in their head. Songs and poetry are very similar people will repeat themselves again and again. In literature and books they are used these are as a literary device and acronyms too. They are common acronyms that are actually tautology and people do not seem tautology or they are not aware of this. The last one is advertising, they are used in advertising because people desire to repeat. As a result people remember whatever product and service it is. This is a little awkward but there is a common expression people use all the time, it is also tautology. This is a very popular expression in English and it is utilized in everyday conversation. "It is, what it is" American Journal of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences Volume 11, April, 2023 P a g e | 122 www.americanjournal.org That is the way the situation is people say this is same all the time. It means that it is not changed "there is nothing they can do that is the situation, and that is life. Another example: " This is a short summary of article". A short summary this would be an example of tautology, because a summary is a short synopsis, the main deal or a short explanation of the main talking points. Therefore, the meaning of the summary is something that is short and do not need to say it is short, it becomes redundant. "I get up at 6 a.m. in the morning". In there it must be used a.m. or in the morning because the meanings are the same and it is also tautology. If something is requirement then it is necessary. But often if somebody is talking about requirement they would use this is really to emphasize it. People may use it in the classroom and teachers would say them, since they constantly repeat the information. There is a great expression it is said 'a great teacher never says things once'. They always repeat their speech twice or three times to be understandable for students everything and they desire students to remember the main points of their speech and instructions. "In my opinion, I think that…" The only time it would be acceptable if there is a long pause and somebody is actually trying to think about what they want to say to express themselves. Turning to the acronyms, acronyms are shortened form of a phrase, they were taken the first letters of the words and pronounced all the first letters together. An example for this, "ATM machine" (Automated Teller Machine) There are many famous statements, one of them was written by William Shakespeare. This is a well- known English tautology in literature. "To be or not to be, this is a question". Advertising tautology people want to repeat information and make the person who is listening to the advertisement they wish for making it very clear what it is happening. "This is a new innovation" it was basically used the advertisement to describe an innovation which is already in the meaning. "My brother is a single bachelor" in there a single bachelor is a tautology. Single and bachelor express the same consent. The word single is inherent in bachelor. In this context the word single means unmarried and bachelor means unmarried man. It iz seen the word unmarried is repeated twice, this example can be corrected by crossing out the word single. "We are giving away free tickets" in there to give away means that it is free, it does not have to pay for it so that people could only say they are giving away tickets but again in many situations peeple would say they are giving away free tickets for emphasis and clarity. As you can see, tautology makes the word richer and more understandable, it can be taken as a type of repetition method. Because usually students remember what they have learned through repetition, and repetition through this method, i.e. repeating the word itself or repeating it with synonyms, helps to remember it more. Using expressions that you use in everyday life in the educational system is also beneficial. But words can be understood if we do not use them in speech. However, it can be useful to include it in a new method in the field of education to remember new information through interesting American Journal of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences Volume 11, April, 2023 P a g e | 123 www.americanjournal.org and wonderful words. This method increases children's courage and speed, and also makes their brains stronger during learning. It should be done continuously. Here is a question. Why do people remember lyrics so quickly and so memorably? Because they hear the song over and over again and sing along, that is, by repeating it and practicing it with their own language, the brain takes it as important and the next time those memorized words and phrases are easily and makes it easy to use. To sum up tautology is widely used in speech, it is also used to make speech understandable and to emphasize words in a sentence. It is widely used not only in oral speech, but also in advertisements, literature, acronyms, and songs. The most important aspect is that it can be very useful for students to learn during the lesson. This is an innovative repetition method. It helps children to understand and memorize the words and phrases they are learning in an interesting and memorable way. Used Literature 1. Andewi W. and Waziana W.
