amae-154		amae-154		11	.pdf	application/pdf	6199	244	36	Recommendations for Future Research The following recommendations are provided to acquire a deeper understanding of ELLs with disabilities: • What should be the measures to determine linguistic and cultural proficiency of bilingual special education teachers in order to facilitate academic rigor in the first and second language of ELL students with disabilities? • Given the growing linguistic diversity of students in California and the nation, how are general teacher education programs preparing pre-service teachers to teach ELLs and special populations of students? • The principle of student inclusion calls for teacher education programs in California and the nation to prepare teachers to be effective in working in ethnically and linguistically diverse school communities with special populations, how is the principle of inclusion being applied by teacher education programs?
