Members expressed interest in hosting a service in Baltimore, MD during the 2022 annual conference should it be held in-person. GROUP LEADERSHIP Patrick Milas called for nominations for the role of convener. Milas was encouraged to continue serving as convener. 38 A NNUA L Y E A RBOOK INSTITUTIONAL AND INDIVIDUAL UPDATES Patrick Milas, Sage Library at New Brunswick Theological Seminary The Seminary has recently undergone two self-studies for accredita- tion and is also involved in a digitization project with Princeton Theo- logical Seminary. The campus will be reopening for the fall semester. Daniel Baek, Vancouver Theological Seminary A new Dean is coming to Vancouver Theological Seminary and enroll- ment is up. Mitzi Budde, Payne Library at Virginia Theological Seminary The renovation project at the Bishop Payne Library is nearing completion, and resources were being reshelved at the time of the Zoom meeting. The library staff plans for the library to reopen by the August term, 2021. Mitzi Budde also reported that Virginia Theo- logical Seminary is preparing for its bicentennial in 2023. Patrick Cates, General Theological Seminary General Theological Seminary’s Dean and President has retired. It has an interim Dean for two years. The Seminary is exploring a part- nership with Virginia Seminary. Susanah Hanson, Trinity School for Ministry The Trinity School for Ministry has been open as hybrid since fall 2020. Susanah will be pursuing a ThD at Evangelical Seminary, focus- ing on theology of disability. MATTERS ARISING • Mitzi Budde raised the question of what others were doing with diocesan newsletters and reports. This led to the suggestion that perhaps Virginia Theological Seminary and General Theo- logical Seminary should compare holdings and mutually divide holdings between the two libraries to ensure full coverage but to reduce overlap and to reclaim library shelf space. It was mentioned that it was a shame that the Episcopal Archives was not functional/available for such a project; otherwise, that would be an ideal central location for diocesan papers to be held and Denominational Group Meetings 39 digitized. Daniel Baek mentioned that the Anglican Archives in Canada preserves Canadian diocesan publications. • There was a discussion about book scanners, with mentions of their cost and the staffing needs to carry out scanning. The Tabletop Scribe scanner was mentioned, with its costs for general rental and per scanned-page charge. • Mitzi Budde asked what others were doing regarding the weed- ing back runs of periodicals. Patrick Milas said that his policy was to weed only if the periodical could be found in two elec- tronic sources: for example, EBSCO and Hathi Trust.
