Among them, water pattern, as one of the typical representatives of traditional Chinese patterns, has thousands of years of development history, has distinct aesthetic characteristics, carries the essence of Chinese traditional culture, and is an indispensable part of Chinese art museums and culture. This is not only because of the beauty of the water pattern itself, but also because of the deep and beautiful cultural connotation behind the water pattern. 2. Typical shape of water pattern The ups and downs of water can only be described in a simple and beautiful form. Unlike other flower, bird, fish and insect patterns, the water pattern is easier to achieve and the lines are softer. Therefore, water patterns are widely used as the main pattern on various ceramics. According to archaeological discoveries, a large number of water ripple patterns appeared on the painted pottery. At that time, the water pattern technology was simple, the lines were concise, and the color was single, which could fully express the smart beauty of water. As the main form elements of water patterns, dots and lines are the basis of all objects and shapes. The connection of points can express the relationship between line, surface, body and space, as well as the relationship between movement and stillness, virtuality and reality. Lines can be divided into straight lines and curves in form, which can produce rich and varied changes. Water patterns are mostly represented by curves, including arcs, swirls, and spirals. Through different arrangements and combinations, as well as wavy lines, tile lines and vertical lines, the water pattern has a distinct dynamic and static beauty. German philosopher Winkelmann said: "Line is the center that determines the form of all objects", and line is an important way to reflect style. In terms of the expression of water patterns, ancient Chinese ancestors were good at using lines to shape shapes in pattern design, and their appearance changed vividly and rhythmically. The hieroglyph of the Chinese character "Water" is a vivid description of the water pattern. Waterlines often give visual rhythm and rhythm in the way of neat arrangement, coherent structure and compact combination. Through the analysis and summary of a large number of water pattern carriers, the water pattern can be divided into three typical water pattern forms, namely water pattern, vortex pattern and wave pattern. 3. Application of water patterns in modern design In modern design, water patterns are still widely used as important decorative elements. At present, the commonly used water patterns mainly include sea water patterns, zigzag patterns, water patterns, etc. The sea water patterns are mostly used in combination with moiré and dragon patterns, which not only reflects the user's identity and status, but also expresses the user's success and progress in their careers. wish. In home design, patterns such as zigzags and water patterns are often used, which usually represent good expectations for longevity and prosperity. Modern design pursues simple and focused composition in decoration, vivid and balanced. Therefore, designers can grasp the characteristics of traditional water patterns with lines as the main form of expression. On the basis of the pre-Qin water patterns dominated by geometric figures, designers can use a modern style with a strong sense of fashion, combined with the aesthetic psychology and value pursuit of modern society. Geometric figures reinterpret water patterns. Designers can retain the traditional arrangement of streamlines and vortex structure, and express the movement and vitality of water patterns through repetition, change, separation and space commonly used in current compositions, thereby showing a sense of freedom and flexibility. The unique dynamic and expressive form of the product water pattern can give users an association of motion trajectories. When this form is used in a design, the product can be highlighted and the attention of the consumer can be captured. Designers can also magnify the classic water pattern as the basis for the overall design and shape, causing people's associations. 3.1 Water ripples Art comes from life, and water ripples are generated from people's production activities. This is the unconscious indentation of woven ropes in the process of pottery making, which created the early water ripples. In the original ceramic decorative patterns, there are primitive arts such as straight lines, broken lines, and zigzags. These lines are derived from weaving and braiding, and the water patterns are presented in a continuous and neatly arranged zigzag shape. These lines are juxtaposed into groups, and then elements such as polylines, straight lines, and curves are used to reproduce the water form. The water ripple pattern is an imitation of water waves. Through abstract deformation, it expresses vitality and flow, ingenious structure and beautiful rhythm. The lines are delicate, peaceful, clear and natural, reflecting the softness of water. 3.2 Swirl pattern Spirals in nature, as large as the vast galaxy, as small as conch shells, typhoons, tornadoes, and ferns formed in nature all have the characteristics of spirals. The ancients abstracted them and drew the form of spiral motion. . Majiayao's swirl patterns are soft and uniform, and the patterns are composed of smooth lines, reflecting rhythm repetition, balance and symmetry. The Banshan Culture organically combines the swirl pattern with the utensils, making it full in shape, round and bulging in the abdomen. The basic shape of the swirl pattern is shown in Figure 3. The pattern is smooth and vivid, the structure is ingenious, and it has a strong sense of movement, bringing an undercurrent of BCP Social Sciences & Humanities HASS 2022 Volume 18 (2022) 201 energy and mystery. It has both situational and symbolic decorations. . From the painted pottery vessels in the Majiayao site, a spirally divergent vortex pattern was found, like a rushing water flow. From the Stone Age to the Bronze Age, the development of the swirl pattern has produced a variant of the swirl pattern. This variant uses straight lines as the main element, and the shape is square. Visual perception is widely used in various metal utensils, especially in tripod utensils. 3.3 Sea wave pattern The water wave pattern and vortex pattern have long been reflected in the pottery of ancient ancestors, while the wave pattern mainly appeared after the Yuan Dynasty, especially after the Ming Dynasty. Because Chinese civilization originated in the Yangtze River and yellow river basins and belongs to agricultural society. Although southeast China is surrounded by the East China Sea, the South China Sea and other sea areas, the ocean does not play an important role in the development of Chinese culture, so there are few patterns related to the ocean. Before the Song Dynasty, China was a cultural country developing from inside to outside. A large number of wave patterns appeared after the Ming Dynasty, which has a certain connection with "Zheng He's journey to the west". The sea wave pattern is mainly reflected in paintings, such as Shang Xi's "the head of the four immortals", Zhou Chen's "Beijing scroll" and Liu Jun's "Liu Hai playing with toads", which depict the shape of waves. As shown in Figure 5a, the head of the four immortals, the main body of the picture depicts the four Immortals crossing the sea, and the background is the billowing sea. The depiction of the sea wave pattern is very fine, which is a detailed auspicious painting. On the other hand, the painting scroll of Beiming is rigorous in composition and pure in strokes, close to mountains and far away from the sea. Figure 5B shows a partial wave shape of the picture volume. You can see the surging waves rolling, the splashed waves are outlined by the undulating concave convex lines, and the waves are depicted by the jumping lines with great impact. "Bangs playing with toads" is a figure painting. The subject of the picture is a figure with a toad. In addition to the characters, Haitao almost fills the whole picture, and the painting style is dutiful. The pattern of Haitao is outlined with war pen, which is extremely fine and highly decorative. 4. Application of water pattern in modern home textile design As a traditional auspicious pattern, water pattern has its unique aesthetic significance and is widely used by people. As an element of nature worship, decoration related to water patterns can be seen everywhere in the world. It is still an important element loved by designers, such as its application in fashion design. At dries van noten's autumn and winter 2012 high-end ready to wear show, it was amazing that the patterns and colors of traditional Chinese court clothes were integrated into their own fashion. Not only the dragon pattern symbolizing the royal status, but also the colorful water pattern is more eye-catching. It was originally the most recognizable element in Chinese court clothing. At the autumn and winter 2017 high-end custom fashion show, iris van Herpen explored the contrast between air and water, darkness and light with the theme of "gas", and presented the ripple effect of air and water in fashion design. The avant-garde treatment is adopted to present "air and water waves" on the dress. It can present the plane waterline in a three-dimensional way, and use the most primitive lines to present the sense of technology in the future, which is very dynamic and breaks the tradition. Missoni Home The "game box" (Figure 2) in the theme of Nodesign Collective water ripple reorganizes the clear, transparent and psychedelic water ripple in the form of split block puzzle, inspired by the charming and interesting puzzle way. The new square water ripple shows the water ripple geometry completely different from the traditional appearance, highlighting the digitization and interest of geometry. Figure 2. Nodesign Collective 5. Epilogue Chinese traditional patterns reflect the cultural connotation and aesthetic concepts accumulated by the Chinese nation in production and life for thousands of years. They are the political, economic and cultural essence of different historical periods. All things are born out of water, and out of water. The concept of water has been deeply integrated into the culture of the Chinese nation. With the changes of dynasties and history, the pattern of water has continued to develop, but the good wishes and sustenance contained in it have not changed. Refining and applying water patterns into modern design is not only the inheritance of the art skills of the ancestors, but also the continuation of the profound cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. The picture below (Figure 3) is a modern style water pattern designed by the author. This work is based on geometric figures, combined with the aesthetic psychology of modern society, and reinterprets water patterns with modern geometric figures, with a strong sense of fashion. The design retains the traditional layout of streamlines and swirling structures, expressing the movement and dynamism of the water pattern through repetition, variation, separation, space and other commonly used compositional techniques.
