Tautopathy has been shown to be effective in reducing the drug's toxicological effects, according to several research investigations. One of the main reasons why people get chronic illnesses is because, as science and biology have progressed, our bodies have been exposed to more and more toxins and radiations. A medical system is necessary to fight them. An example of a system that offers a similar approach to treating the toxicological effects of medicat ions is tautopathy. It was known even in Hahnemann's day that many medications had adverse effects, and the remedy Nux vomica was recommended to alleviate them. These once-recommended homoeopathic antidotes are now less effective as a result of human genome evolution and the subsequent discoveries of contemporary medications. The rule of similars states that the same medications, in a stronger version, that caused an allergic reaction should be used to treat antibiotic-related allergies. On top of that, cortisone and corticosterone not only symptom suppressants; they also cause patients to develop resistance to them. Iatrogenic illness management might benefit greatly from further research into the topic. We learn more about the effectiveness of Tautopathy from cases treated with homoeopathy and associated studies. In addition, they are useful for learning how to deal with patients who have developed an allergy to or resistance to current medications that were formerly prescribed to them. This article discusses a number of such references and the clinical evidence that backs them up. Keywords: Tautopathy, Homoeopathy, Similimum, Iatrogenic Diseases, Toxicological Effects, Health Hazards Introduction 1. There is a third word that is consistent with homoeopathy, isopathy, and equalopathy; it is "homopathy" (homos- same). But the term "tautopathy," meaning "same" in Greek, is chosen instead so that no one gets confused. The late director of London's Nelsons Homoeopathic Pharmacy, Mr. Dudley Wooton Everitt, invented the word "tautopathy" [1]. Hydrophys cyanocinta and Atrax robustus were both aided by his contributions to the provings. [2] Therapeutic drug-induced disorders, or iatrogenic diseases, have a huge window of opportunity in the tautopathic system for treatment. The toxicological activity of medications and allied therapies is covered in many homoeopathic repertories' rubrics. For instance, the chapter addresses topics such as the negative impacts of chlorine, sulphurized hydrogen, formaldehyde, and more. 2. poisoning, as stated in Robin Murphy's Homoeopathic Medical Repertory. the third The breadth of repertorising such situations would be enhanced by include tautopathic medications in such rubrics. The efficacy of Tautopathy has been the subject of prior studies. An comprehensive inventory of medications used in the Tautopathic therapy modality is presented here, along with a discussion of a thorough evaluation of prior clinical experiences by stalwarts. Tautopathy - The Insight and Scope It is a method of curing or removing bad effects of drugs by giving isotoxication, just similar to isopathy. Isopathy is a system of medicine in which a disease can be cured by giving its very own product. Tautopathy has two advantages. First it can be proven like homoeopathic drugs and included in Materia medica. Second it can be given to antidote bad effects of crude or harmful identical agents. [3] The indication of Tautopathy is based on causative factor and symptoms produced as side effects of the abused drug. Tautopathy is strictly homoeopathic, though including drugs that are used by allopathic system of medicine. The reason is because they are used on the basis of symptoms produced by crude drug on diseased persons. They are prepared strictly according to homeopathic principles and used in potencies. [4] The need to study about Tautopathy lies in the ever increasing incidences of drug hazards and chronic health conditions caused by the toxic effects of drugs. A study [5] showed that iatrogenic and pharmacogenic effects are among the most frequent causes of death and disability, and not the heart diseases and cancer. The practice of administering nonspecific therapy to control and check infections was a fad in medical science, even before the discoveries of antibiotics and sulphonamides. This gradually led to the development of resistance in the body, further increasing the risk of developing iatrogenic diseases. [4] Antibiotics also do not cause complete destruction of microorganisms as they are mainly bacteriostatic. In addition to that, they destroy normal flora of the gut and respiratory tract, causing more harm. Side effects of antibiotics have been known with a great certainty so far. [6] Along with this antibiotics era, there existed a vitamin era also, in which multiple vitamins were prescribed for general wellbeing of the patients and also to those suffering from avitaminosis. Though, it was observed that patients still had persisting common cold in spite of treating with Vitamin D. [7] According to Hahnemann in 6 th edition of Organon of Medicine, ―The botched health condition brought above by the allopathic non healing art are the most tragic and the least curable of all the chronic disorders. I regret to say that when they have been driven to an extreme, it will probably be impossible to invent or think up means to remedy them.‖ [8] Hahnemann called drug induced diseases as the ones that are most difficult to treat, and thus should be left alone to be cured by the vital force itself. Tautopathy holds a cognizable purview for these ‗difficult to cure‘ diseases and helps in unfolding the layers of miasm produced by such drugs. The forthcoming review of different research studies will unveil the indications of various Tautopathic drugs. Some of the known physiological action of drugs are as follows: [4] 1) Streptomycin- causes neurological disturbances, specially of eighth cranial nerve 2) Penicillin- causes decrease in leucocyte count 3) Chlorpromazine- causes hepatic disorders 4) Theouracil, methimazole, asphenamine, methylestasterone- liver disorders 5) Phenylbutazone, phenycerylurea- causes toxic hepatits, inflammatory infiltration and liver cell damage, sulfapyridine- causes kidney stone and urinary tract stone 6) Sulpha drugs- cause enlargement of thyroid gland 7) ACTH and cortisone- cause peptic ulcer 8) Therapeutic hormones- like estrogen is a risk factor for breast cancer and Gynaecomastia Antihypertensive like Hexamenthorium-known to cause acute interstitial pulmonary fibrosis and progressive dyspnea. These drugs when prepared in potencies by trituration and succussions and when prescribed according to homoeopathic principles, may remove these side effects, which have no known treatment so far. In chronic diseases, Hahnemann suggested that the causative organism of an infectious disease would naturally produce the disease itself. Thus the potentised microbe would have to be the similimum to a case of that self- same disease (Tauto-same). [9] A Glasgow mustard trial [10] was conducted to study the Tautopathic treatment as preventive, by the British Homoeopathic society and the Ministry of Home security during world War- II. It was a double blinded placebo controlled trial, in which mustard gas 30C or placebo was given to volunteers before real mustard gas was applied to their forearm. The observations were as follows: Table 1. Observations in two groups of mustard trial. The result of the study showed that statistically significant improvement or prevention was observed during these trials from the Tautopathic mustard gas 30C. Another study [11] was conducted by the researcher Khuda Baksh in Nadia district of West Bengal, to know the effects of Arsenicum album 30C on the chronic effects of arsenic poisoning contaminated from drinking water. It was observed that there was reduction in the level of arsenic in blood and urine in the subjects consuming the contaminated water. The Tautopathic immunotherapy is another term applied for potentised allergens in homoeopathic potencies. This is used when an allergen displays a clear group of symptoms and that allergen when given in potency also produces the same group of symptoms. For example, in allergic rhinitis syndrome, hay fever produces symptoms that are similar to those produced by individuals, who are sensitive to Galphimia glauca. A Randomized Controlled Trial was conducted between two groups of Galphimia glauci 6x and placebo, on patients suffering from these symptoms. It was found that the homoeopathic preparation improved symptoms to a greater extent. [12] In a case report [13], sulphothiazole cured fever in a 6 months old child with symptoms of cough, stomatitis and constipation, who was given cibazol tablets for 10 days. A female aged 45 years with typhoid was initially under the treatment of allopathy using chloromycetin, which caused stomatitis, burning in mouth and throat, vertigo while getting up from bed, headache and aggravation from movement. All these indications pointed towards Bryonia, which gave no relief. Chloromycetin 6, lowered the temperature and alleviated the other symptoms as well. [13] Other drugs that add on to the list of Tautopathic medicines include ambistrin that cured a case of tuberculosis of the lungs which was worsened by ambistrin injection producing symptoms of giddniness, headache and deafness. A patient of prostatic complaint was given zephrol drug by an allopathic doctor, 1. 12 cases- had deep lesions 2. 2 cases- got no lesions 1. 2 cases- got deep lesions 2. 12 cases- had no lesions Placebo Group Mustard Group which failed to relieve the retention of urine. Ephedrine 6 (a content of zephrol) was prescribed with an effective outcome. [13] A female child aged 2 years, got her urticarial eruptions on forehead, suppressed by tetramycine injections. The eruptions flooded the face all over, with puffiness and pus discharge. Intolerable pain and profuse salivation were other marked symptoms. After a failed attempt with Rhus tox 0/3, tetramycine 30 relieved the symptoms, followed by Mezerium 0/3 and Calcarea carb 0/3, to complete the cure. In a case report, a 16 year old youth diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Asperger's syndrome and dyslexia received homoeopathic dilutions of the same drug to which the child was exposed to in intrauterine life. There was significant relief in symptoms as well as improvement in MYMOP (Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile) score and DSM-1V (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders– Fourth Edition) score was observed. [14] Similar such studies have proved the efficiency of Tautopathy, in improving immunodeficiency disorders and iatrogenic drug hazards. The sole indication lies in the treatment history of the patient. Therefore, every case, which is resistant to the indicated homoeopathic medicine, should be inquired into any previous drug administered. If the totality of the symptoms is similar to the known adverse reactions of the drug, then the same drug in potentised form will be the next best indicated medicine. Most of the patients approach homoeopathic system of medicine after prolonged treatment with allopathic drugs that leave them in dire straits. The indicated homoeopathic medicine fails to improve such artificial chronic diseases that are suppressed by several conventional drugs. Tautopathy is a leap forward for such cases and should be considered and accepted in the domain of homoeopathy. 3. Conclusion When we deplete our bodies' natural systems with synthetic pharmaceuticals, the body responds by repairing itself utilizing the same resources that caused the damage. Homoeopathic medicine, or tautopathy, is an alternative to traditional medicine. A large number of iatrogenic illnesses may be traced back to these medications and their negative side effects. There is now no solution for these diseases, however tautopathy opens up a lot of possibilities for studying these responses and administering a stronger version of the same medication. Immunodeficiencies, allergies, and drug-induced diseases—the ones Master Hahnemann called the "most difficult to cure"—can now be treated with more precision with only a thorough examination of the patient's medical history and extensive study in the area of tautopathy. What makes a doctor smart is keeping up with the latest research but yet relying on the insights of the past.A species' chances of survival depend less on its intelligence and strength and more on how well it adapts to new circumstances.
