In general, athletic trainers should be well-educated about the long-term health risks of relative energy deficiency in sport, and employ supplemental resources when working with high-risk teams such as cross- country, volleyball, and be aware of the effects related to aesthetic sports such as gymnastics, cheerleading, and swimming on athletes’ mental health and overall well-being.
