Code Blue is one of the earliest existing films created by Henry Hampton’s Boston- based documentary company Blackside Inc., which produced the Emmy Award-winning civil rights series Eyes on the Prize. Blackside became the largest Af- rican American-owned film production company of its time and was home to many filmmakers from diverse back- grounds, including African Americans, immi- grants, and women. The 2 7 - m i n u t e d o c u m e n - tary includes footage from an emer- gency room in Harlem, a tour through areas of N a s h v i l l e with a doc- tor who did o u t r e a c h to poor families, and discussions with young men and women from different backgrounds who could explain the value of medical educa- tion. The film won a CINE Golden Ea- gle Award and was seen around the world, in- cluding at film festivals as far away as Venice’s Festival dei Popoli. A c q u i s i t i o n s Two historic paintings of early structures of Marietta, Ohio, have been acquired by the Legacy Library of Mari- etta College. The City of Marietta, estab- lished in 1788, was the first organized settle- ment in the Northwest Territory following the adop- tion of the N o r t h w e s t O r d i n a n c e by Con- gress. The p a i n t i n g s of Campus Martius, by Charles Sul- livan, and of Fort Har- mar, attrib- uted to Sala B o s w o r t h , were both created in the mid-1830s. Donated by two brothers in memory of their father, Frank Putnam Wilton, the recently conserved paintings had been in the family for several generations. The Wiltons are descendants of General Israel Putnam (of Revolutionary War fame) through Douglas Putnam, who was a founding trustee and secretary of the board of Marietta College.
