As we educate and inspire diverse communities of scholars, librarians are encouraged to seek and explore collaborative opportunities that arise at the intersections of scholarly communica- tion and information literacy. The benefits of educational opportunities at the intersections are twofold: • Students, who are often asked to par- ticipate in scholarly conversations without clear understanding of the scholarly informa- tion ecology, become aware of the social and economic influences tied to information, and see themselves as members of that scholarly marketplace. • Faculty, who are knowledgeable about scholarly communication in their field, gain a greater sense of information literacy practices and dispositions for themselves and their stu- dents. This interactive workshop will empower participants to leverage the intersections of scholarly communica- tion and information literacy in order to de- velop education and outreach initiatives that address the aspirations and needs of scholars, students, and research- ers at their institutions. Complete details and registration materials are online at www.ala.org/acrl/conferences /intersectionsmidwinter. Questions should be directed to Chase Ollis at collis@ala.org.
