Welcome to the March 2019 issue of C&RL News. We 
kick off this month’s issue with the latest edition of 
our Scholarly Communication column. Debbie Feisst 
and Willa Tavernier write about their experiences 
as ACRL scholarship recipients to “OpenCon 2018,” 
with a focus on building community, equity, diver-
sity, and inclusion in scholarly communication.

Participating in the scholarly conversation is an im-
portant part of the promotion and tenure process, but 
the writing and publication experience can often be a 
bit daunting. Dory Rosenberg, Karin M. Kettenring, and 
Anne R. Diekema discuss their experiences creating 
and working with a professional writing group in their  
article “Everybody’s publishing but me!”

Publishing experience can also be an essential part 
of the job search process for both new and seasoned 
library professionals. Orolando Duffus provides tips 
for this and other aspects of “The art and science of 
securing a job in a research library.”

On the other side of the hiring coin, librarians at 
the University of Wyoming recently experimented 

with doing “Group interviews for a cohort hire” and 
give an overview of the lessons they learned for others 
considering a similar process.

This issue’s Perspectives on the Framework col-
umn features a look at “The art of information literacy” 
through the lens of competencies for visual art and 
design students by Linden How, Amanda Meeks, 
Shannon Marie Robinson, and Alyssa Vincent, while 
Dorinne Banks and Tolonda Henderson encourage 
readers to “Think before you flip” library instruction 
in this month’s The Way I See It essay.
