This small volume prints several ALA comm ittee statements: guidelines for formu­ lation of collection developm ent policies; evalua­ tion of the effectiveness of library collections; re­ view of library collections; and allocation of li­ brary m aterials budgets. The report criticizes the study for a variety of reasons and concludes that it presents “a clear threat and a present danger.” It urges that “uni­ versity administrators and librarians not be influ­ enced by the unfounded criticism s and unw ar­ ranted recommendations expressed so forcibly by Professor Kent and his associates.” The report is to be made available through the ERIC system. • The first six volumes in the M elbourne Uni­ versity Press Australian Dictionary o f Biography c over b io g rap h ies for 1788-1850 ( V .l-2 ) and 1851-1890 (V.3—6).
