H ollom an, a native o f H ertford County, N orth C arolina, m o v e d to W ashington w ith his w ife in 1917 w h e n h e su c c e e d e d Wil­ liam B ishop Jo h n s o n in th e p asto rate o f th e Second B aptist C hurch. H ollo m an a n d his w ife w ere active in th e W ashington African-Ameri­ can com m unity a n d various B aptist a n d R epub­ lican organizations. A collection o f th e m ost im p o rta n t p u b li­ cations o f W ilhelm W undt, th e fath er o f e x ­ perim ental psychology, h a s b e e n a cq u ired by the Archives o f th e H istory o f A m erican Psy­ chology at th e U n iv e r s ity o f A k ron . W undt played a m ajor role in convincing early p sy ­ ch o lo g ists th a t o b je c tiv e scien tific m e th o d s could b e a p p lie d to th e stu d y o f th e m ind. T he acquisition, v a lu e d at $13,000, com prises 10.5 feet o f b o o k s a n d is h o u s e d in th e rare b o o k room o f B ierce Library.
