The 452-page manual contains in­ structions for more than 100 Preservation Hews J a n e Hedberg con servation treatments, floorplans, and furnishing/equipment lists for conservation laboratories; flow charts and de­ cision trees for conservation decision-making; plus a bibliography. It was developed by the 42 collections conservators and preservation ad­ ministrators who attended the 1992 “Training the Trainers: A Conference on Training in Col­ lection Conservation,” and compiled by Maralyn Jones, assistant head o f the Conservation De­ partment at the University o f California, Berke­ ley. The manual also includes a final report on the conference which was intended to facili­ tate regional planning for collection conserva­ tion training. NEDCC republishes preservation m anual The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) has published the second edition o f its Preservation o f Library and Archival Mate­ rials: A Manual, edited by Sherelyn Ogden. The manual is intended to provide basic, practical information on a variety o f collection care top­ ics and to assist in developing sound preserva­ tion programs. PRLC creates H ypatia The Pittsburgh Regional Library Center (PRLC) has announced the creation o f Hypatia, a new collection o f full-text preservation databases which currently includes a top-level directory, a database o f disaster plans, the AMIA-L list­ serv archives o f the Association o f Moving Im­ ages Archivists, a directory o f regional resources for preservation and disaster recovery, and a link to the CoOL Webserver at Stanford Uni­ versity. Hypatia will be maintained by the pres­ ervation services manager at PRLC and new databases will be added as obtained.
