K o d a k publishes pam phlet about nitrate film Eastman Kodak has published an eight-page pamphlet called Safe Handling, Storage, and Destruction o f Nitrate-Based Motion Picture Films. In addition to information on identifica­ tion, handling, and storage o f this potentially dangerous film stock, the pamphlet covers its hazardous waste classification and management. It also includes addresses for contacts which may be useful in determining the historic value o f film materials, reform atting deteriorating films, or treating nitrate waste. NEDCC an d MFA present conference on clim ate control The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NED CC) and the Museum o f Fine Arts, Boston (M FA ) are presenting “T he N ew Museum Cli­ mate: Standards and Technologies,” April 25- 26, 1996, at the MFA. The program w ill empha­ size practical considerations o f climate control in museums (e.g., balancing different needs for different media, m icro- and m acro-environ­ ments, climate monitoring, cost/benefit analy­ sis, and w orking with facilities staffs). Stefan Michalski (Canadian Conservation Institute) w ill present the paper “Changing Standards for En­ vironmental Control,” addressing the recently controversial issue o f appropriate standards for museum environments.
