He previously served as assistant di­ rector for technical services at the University o f No­ tre D am e from 1961 to 1972. A native of D etroit, En n en received m aster’s degrees in library science and classical studies as well as a doctorate in library science from the University of M ichigan. He was also a graduate of Jo h n C arroll University, C leve­ land, Ohio. T h e Sci-M a te P er­ sonal D a ta M anager turns the user’s reprint file into a m ini-database. Users can en ter bibliographic inform ation about each paper, book, pam phlet, letter, lab note, o r other items. T hey can then use Sci-M ate to search and identify items th at m atch search term s or phrases they select. T h e system uses Boolean logic and has truncation cap ability. T h e user simply enters bibliographic inform ation on the keyboard. No pre-indexing is required, and the system can accom odate inform ation o f practically any length. Users can label up to 20 different fields (author, title, jo u rn al, date, etc.) for each entry, and th ere is room for notes or comm ents. Besides the m icrocom puter keyboard, inform a­ tion can also be entered into Sci-M ate through a word processor. Users of I S I ’s sister system, the Sci- M ate Universal Online Searcher, can search online databases and capture the inform ation in the Per­ sonal D a ta M anager. T h e Sci-M ate Personal D ata M anager is available for $540. T h e Universal O n ­ line Searcher is available for $440. T hey m ay be purchased together at a cost o f $880. Sci-M ate operates on the V ector 3 or 4 , the IBM P erson al C o m p u ter, th e A pple I I , th e T R S -8 0 Model I I , or any CP/M-80 system with a standard 8-inch drive.
