ACRL News Issue (B) of College & Research Libraries 23 People PROFILES • The U niversity of Wisconsin has announced the a p p o in tm en t o f E s t h e r St i n e m a n to the new position o f University of Wisconsin System librarian-at-large in women’s studies. The position was created at the recom m endation of the system W omen’s Studies Task Force and re presents an experim ental approach to resource sharing, d e ­ velopm ent, and service in the system. D uring the two-year pilot phase, the librarian- at-large will focus particularly on issues of u n d e r­ graduate collection d e v elo p m en t and technical service to th e university cluster: it is expected th at, u p o n successful c o m p le tio n o f th e p ilo t phase, issues of resource developm ent p e rtinent to research, graduate programming, and outreach programming will be added to the m ajor concerns of the librarian-at-large. Stinem an is a g raduate of th e U niversity of Cincinnati w ith bachelor’s degrees in English and education; she holds an M.A. in E nglish from the U n iv e rsity o f C o lo ra d o -B o u ld e r a n d an M.A. from the G raduate Library School, University of Chicago. She has held positions as a public high school teacher and as user services librarian and instructor at th e University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. H e r articles have appeared in Colorado Libraries and th e University of Michigan Papers in W om en’s Studies. She is currently at work on a biographic and bibliographic reference work on the subject of w om en in politics, to be published next year. T he lib ra rian -a t-larg e will b e lo ca ted in th e W isco n sin I n te r l ib r a r y Loan S e rv ic e (W ILS) office, though she will travel extensively in the state to dete rm in e needs and to consult with in­ dividuals inte rested in women’s studies collection developm ent and service. Giving guidance to the position will be an advisory group of th ree librar­ ians who are p articu larly know ledgeable about wom en’s studies resource developm ent issues, a w o m e n ’s s tu d ie s c o o rd in a to r, a n d a lib ra ry director.
