The 28th An­ nual N ational Library Legislative D ay in W ashington, D.C., will be held o n May 6 a n d 7, 2002, at the Holiday Inn on the Hill a n d will include an ACRL-sponsored lun­ cheon. B e c o m e a n a c a d e m ic lib ra ria n a d v o c a te National Library Legislative Day events will start on M onday w ith Briefing Day, This full day o f issue briefings will inform a n d p re ­ pare participants for congressional visits on Tuesday. There will b e sessions o n intellec­ tu al p ro p e rty , g o v e rn m e n t in fo rm atio n , LSTA, and m ore. N e tw o rk w it h y o u r a c a d e m ic c o lle a g u e s Also o n Monday, ACRL will sponsor a legis­ lative luncheon with speakers and panelists for academ ic librarians w h o are participating in the Legislative Day activities. The luncheon and discussion will b e held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and offers the opportunity to m eet other academic librarians interested in advo­ cacy, learn about the current issues from ex­ pert speakers, and discuss these issues with the luncheon participants. • M e e t a n e d it o r f r o m t h e C h r o n ic le o f H i g h e r E d u c a tio n . Scott Jaschik, an editor for the Chronicle o f H igher E d u c a ­ tion, will discuss legislative a n d policy is­ sues in higher education.
