Sponsored by World Book Encyclopedia, the Jones Award consists of a grant of $5,000 for programs that will implement the goal and objectives of ALA. The ALA divisions will use the grant money for a cooperative project to strengthen the lead ership skills of divisional officers both in their roles in ALA and their respective units. The project, entitled “ALA Divisional Leadership Enhancement Program,” will include a one time preconference for all divisional leaders, followed by an annual leadership orientation for newly elected divisional officers and board members. A training package which can be used within divisions to develop leadership be low the board level will also be developed.
