Grady Morein has joined the staff of the O ffice o f U n iv ersity L ib ra ry M anagem ent Studies of the Association of Research Librar­ ies (ARL). He holds the position of associate and will be the principal coordinating officer for the small and mid-sized academic library studies that are part of the newly established Academic Library Program. Morein brings to the OM S a combination of library scien ce and m anagem ent education plus a diverse mixture of library, teaching, re­ search, and consulting experience. He holds a B .S. degree in management, and M .S. in li­ brary science, and M .B .A ., and the Ph.D . in management. He has worked as a eataloger and serials librarian and has taught both li­ brary science and management. For the past three years he has been coor­ dinator o f the Academic Library Development Program, a project he designed for the Coun­ cil on Library Resources in association with Duane W ebster. T he grant will fund a two-year project o f cataloging the unprocessed manuscript collections held by the department. Eleanor McKay, curator of the Special Collections D epartm ent, is also directing a survey of pre-1930 historical build­ ings in West Tennessee. Funds from the T en­ nessee Historical Commission w ere used in the initial survey of Haywood County. AACR 2 The British Library, the National Library of Canada, and the Library of Congress have an­ nounced their decision to defer for one year im p le m e n ta tio n o f th e A n g lo - A m e r ic a n C a talog u in g R ules, S eco n d E dition until Janu­ ary 1981. This decision was made in response to requests from libraries needing additional time for preparation prior to the adoption of the new cataloging code. The second edition of the code will be published in November 1978.
