ACRL News Issue (B) of College & Research Libraries 234 / C&RL News ▀ A p ril 2003 In t h e e nsw April is National Poetry Month and, to celebrate the occasion, this issue’s Internet Resources col umn focuses on e-Poetry (p. 249). T he article explores recent developments in the world o f poetry and provides interesting and unusual ex amples o f the breadth o f e-poetry information currently available online. Also in this issue is “T he bewildering new world o f scholarly communication” (p. 242), in which Howard M. Dess and Myoung C. Wilson discuss the role o f librarians in helping faculty to understand the issues o f scholarly communica tion. The authors show how their well-planned initiative, which included creating a brochure and Web site and organizing a symposium, led to greater understanding o f and collaboration on scholarly communication issues on their campus. Taking it beyond the campus, Lynn Lampert uses this year’s presidential theme o f New Reali ties, New Relationships to ask the question, “W ho’s afraid o f partnerships for information literacy initiatives?” (p. 246). While many have been asked to partner with faculty and other cam pus groups outside o f the library, the author pro vides the unique perspective of someone who has participated in a partnership within the greater com munity. Learn how she designed a class promoting information literacy in the Los Angeles County Acad emy program, a public-to-public partnership cre ated to meet Los Angeles County’s workforce train ing and development needs. The final wrap-up of Midwinter activities ap pears here as well. You can find out what the University Libraries Section has on its plate (p. 254) and read an overview o f the President’s Discussion Forum, “A world o f values” (p. 252). Congratulations to Ross Atkinson, ACRL’s 2003 Academic/Research Librarian o f the Year, the winners o f ACRL’s Excellence in Academic Libraries Awards, and other award winners.
