U N IM A R C w ill a llo w n a tio n a l li­ braries and bibliographic agencies to ob tain m axi­ mum benefit from the resources already expended in th e developm ent o f M A R C -based lib rary sys­ tems by fa cilita tin g access to M A R C records pro­ duced by oth er national bib liog rap h ic agencies. Although several national agencies are already us­ ing U N IM A R C , th e interpretive handbook will a l­ low it to be used in a standard w ay. T h e L ib ra ry of Congress C atalog ing D istribution Service is cu r­ rently preparing specifications for the conversion o f L ib ra ry o f Congress M A R C records into U N IM ­ A R C and expects to be ab le to distribute records in U N IM A R C late this year. • C a p i t a l S y s t e m s G r o u p has becom e the east­ ern distributor for library applications softw are de­ veloped by the C alifo rn ia L ib ra ry Authority for Systems and Services (C L A S S ).
