Central Technical Services has three major administrative divisions—the Books and Serials Acquisition Division (which includes Gifts and Bloc Purchases. B ibliographic Data. O rders and Receipts, Secretarial/Typing, Special Orders, and Standing O rders sections); the Catalog Division (which includes M onographic Cataloging, Serials Catalog­ ing, C opy Cataloging, and Catalog Support Services sections); and the Retrospective Conversion/RLIN Division. Central Technical Services is responsible for processing most of the library materials a dded to the Uni­ versity Libraries collections. It has an annual operating budget of almost $2,000,000 and a staff of more than 85 FTE, including 24 FTE professional staff. The Director of Technical Services has direct administrative responsibility for the departm ent and is also responsible for coordinating the w ork of the departm ent with the Directors of the public services depart­ ments (the Institute of T echnology Libraries, Walter Library, and Wilson Library) for which CTS provides direct processing support. The Director of CTS is also responsible for coordinating University Libraries- w ide processing with the Directors of the University Libraries departm ents which have their own technical services operations (the Bio-Medical Library and the St. Paul Campus Libraries).
