Au­ gustine chairs the End User Instruction Com­ mittee of CARLI, which is a consortium of 65 Illinois libraries. Augustine and her com­ mittee have been training librarians around the state in the customization of these tuto­ rials and the use of the authoring software. Maryam Fakouri, reference and instruction librarian at the Columbia College Library in Chicago, has been selected to be a Copy­ right Scholar with the Copyright Advisory Network, an online community sponsored by ALA’s Office for Information Technology Policy. As a scholar, Fakouri will help other librarians think through common copyright dilemmas. Connell Gallagher, director for research collections at the University of Vermont, has been named a fellow of the Society of Ameri­ can Archivists (SAA). Established in 1957 and conferred annually, the distinction of fellow is the highest honor bestowed on individu­ als by SAA and is awarded for outstanding contributions to the archival profession. Gal­ lagher joined the University of Vermont in 1970 as its university archivist and curator of manuscripts. He had served as head of public services in the library since 1993, was promoted to li­ brarian in 2005, and served as acting director from January to June 2002. Cathy Matthews has been reappointed as chief librarian at Ryerson University for a sec­ ond five­year term. In addition to her respon­ sibilities at Ryerson, Matthews is the chair of the Ontario Council of University Libraries. Prior to joining Ryerson, Matthews served as chief librarian at the University of Toronoto­ Mississauga and as head librarian at the Cen­ tre of Criminology at the University of To­ ronto. Sayre has retired after having served the University of Iowa Libraries for 30 years, most recently as the coordinator for financial services. In this capacity, he was responsible for the oversight of a $23 million budget. He has been a member of the Foundation Board of the Iowa Library Association since 1994. Lawrence A. Woods has retired after having served the University of Iowa Libraries since 1991 as director for information systems. Over the years he also served as the primary administrator for the branch libraries, techni­ cal services, and the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences. He oversaw the implemen­ tation of the InfoHawk system and has been an international leader in the field of library automation.
