Fitting for the last issue of the year, the De­
cember C&RL News provides a look back 
at where we’ve been (see the 2005–06 An­
nual Report) and a glimpse of where we’re 
headed (see the list of “ACRL Midwinter 
meetings in Seattle” and “Literary Balti­
more”). 

Some of the achievements for fiscal 
2006 were the ACRL/CNI/EDUCAUSE Joint 
Virtual Conference, “Innovate and Motivate: 
Next Generation Libraries,” ACRL’s first 
wholly online conference held in April 
2006; the launch of ACRLog, the official 
blog of ACRL, written for and by academic 
and research librarians; and the debut of 
ALA’s new career site, JobLIST, a joint 
project of American Libraries, C&RL News, 
and ALA’s Human Resource Development 
and Recruitment. 

For a complete look at what ACRL was 
working on in 2005–06, make sure to read 
the Annual Report on pages 703–733. 

As we continue to gear up for ACRL’s 
13th National Conference (“Sailing into 
the Future–Charting our Destiny,” March 
29–April 1, 2007), articles on different fac­
ets of the host city, Baltimore, are featured. 
This month’s selection, “Literary Baltimore” 
(page 676) focuses on places to explore to 
learn more about Baltimore authors and also 
provides an overview of the wide­ranging 
bookstores the city has to offer. 

This month’s Internet Resources install­
ment on scholarly communication will 
help you locate information related to all 
aspects of the subject, including contextual 
overviews, stakeholders’ perspectives, and 
library education and advocacy. 

To help you get started with planning 
your schedule for the Midwinter Meeting, a 
list of ACRL events and meetings in Seattle 
is included in this issue on page 684.
