Goetsch is dean of libraries at Kansas State University, a position she has held since 2004. From 1997 to 2004, she was director of public services at the University of Maryland Libraries. Goetsch also worked at the University of Tennes­ see where she served as head of reference services (1993–97). Prior to that, she was head of information/reference at Michigan State University (1987–93), where she also worked as information/reference librarian (1985–87). She served as assistant reference librarian at the University of Illinois- Chicago (1982–85). Her activities in ACRL include serving as director–at–large on the ACRL Board (2004–present), chair of the Nominating Committee (2004–05), and member of the 2005 National Conference Invited Papers Committee (2004–05). She served as a mem­ ber of the Information Literacy Competency Standards Task Force (1998–2002), and was chair of the University Libraries Section (ULS) Standards and Guidelines Review Commit­ tee (2000–01). Goetsch was chair of the Women’s Studies Section (WSS) (1994–95) and ULS (1997–98). She served as secretary of ULS (1991–93), as a member of the WSS Publications Committee (1989–93) and was chair of the ULS Organization and Bylaws Committee (1989–90). She was a participant in both the ACRL/ Harvard Leadership Institute (2000) and the Senior Fellows Program (1995). Her ALA activities include serving as a member of the Equality Award Jury (1996– 97), and the Committee on the Status of Women in Librarianship (1994–96). She was also an RASD representative to the Recruit­ ment Assembly (1992–94). Goetsch’s work with state and regional associations includes membership in the Greater Western Library Alliance, where she is currently a member of the Board of Directors (2007–present) and was a member of the Planning and Organization Committee (2005–06). She is a member of the Kansas Library Network Board/State Librarian Ad­ visory Commission (2006–present), and she served the Michigan Library Association as chair of the Management and Administration Forum (1991–92) and the Annual Conference Program Planning Committee (1988–89). Goetsch received the University of Ten­ nessee’s Professional Development Award (1995) and was awarded Michigan State University Libraries’ Distinguished Librarian Award (1992). Goetsch received her master’s of library and information science from Rosary Col­ lege. She received both her master’s degree in English and her bachelor of science degree in English from Illinois State Uni­ versity. Janice Simmons-Welburn is dean of university libraries at Marquette University, a position she has held since 2006. From 2003 to 2006, she was associate dean at the University of Arizona Libraries. She also worked at the University of Iowa Libraries, where she served as director of Central Public Services and Facilities (2000–03), director of Human Resources and Central Processing (Technical) Services (1998–2000), coordinator of Personnel and Diversity Programs (1995–98), and head of the Information and Instructional Services Department (1990–95). Prior to that, she worked as interlibrary loan librarian at New York University Libraries (1988–90), and as reference librarian at Georgia Institute of Technology (1987–88). She served as reference librarian at Indiana University (1984–87), and as head of the Psychology Library at Princeton University (1980–84). Her activities in ACRL include serving as a member of the Budget and Finance Committee (2007–present), the 2009 Na­ tional Conference Contributed Papers Sub­ committee (2007–present), the Leadership Recruitment and Nomination Committee, (2007–present), and as a member of the Task Force on “Positioning the 21st Century Library in the Competitive Academy: Why We Can’t Wait” (2007–present). Simmons- Welburn was chair of the University Librar­ ies Section (ULS) (2006–07), cochaired the 2007 National Conference Panel Sessions Committee (2005–07), and was a member of the Excellence Award Selection Com­ mittee (2004–05). She served as chair of the Appoint­ ments Committee (2004–05), the 2005 Na­ tional Conference Roundtable Committee (2003–05), and was coconvener of the ULS Public Services Directors of Large Research Libraries Discussion Group (2002–03).
