A p p o i n t m e n t s Toby Baldwin has been appointed director of library services at Mountain View College in Dallas, Texas. Susan D. Scott has been named the director of the Library at the Newark Campus of Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College. Prior to this appointment, Scott was the head of information services at the Deni­ son University Library. Earlier in her library career, Scott was the reference librarian at the Newark Campus of Ohio State University and Central Ohio Technical College thus her position as the Newark campus library direc­ tor is a coming home for her. Scott is a past president of the Academic Library Association of Ohio (ALAO) and a past member of the OhioLINK User Services Committee. She is currently the ACRL liaison for ALAO. Lana Thelen is now the college librarian at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Maryke Barber has been appointed out­ reach and arts liaison librarian at the Wynd­ ham Robertson Library of Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. As keeper, Fulghum designed and built the gallery, which has three historic rooms, holds a collection of approximately 22,000 artifacts, and produces four exhib­ its annually. Before joining UNC, Fulghum was curator of research and development at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh, North Carolina (1979–86) and a museum specialist at the North Carolina Division of Archives and History in Raleigh (1977–79). In 2007, the North Carolina Mu­ seums Council awarded Fulghum the Pro­ fessional Service Award in recognition of outstanding achievement. D e a t h s Connie Costantino, lecturer at the School of Library and Information Science at San Jose State University (SJSU) and part­time library lecturer at Palomar College, has died. She taught information organizations and management, instructional strategies for information professionals, and inter­ national and comparative librarianship at SJSU. Her research focused on information literacy, particularly among undergradu­ ate students and educators. Prior to joining SJSU in 2004, Costantino spent more than 30 years as a school, public, and academic librarian. She served as an academic library director at Alliant International University in San Diego (1993 to 2003) and consulted for libraries in Mexico City and Nairobi, Ke­ nya (1993–2003). She was active in ACRL, particulary with the Distance Learning Sec­ tion, Instruction Section, and as chair of the International Relations Committee. She had been a member of the California Academic and Research Libraries (CARL) since 1996 and a member of the California Library As­ sociation since 1994. And she had been a member of the San Diego Regional Library Association since 1990, serving as president, vice president, and program chair. February 2009 133 C&RL News
