Marilyn J. Sharrow has retired from the Uni-
versity of California (UC)-Davis after serving 
for 24 years as univer-
sity librarian. She fi rst 
worked at the Detroit 
Public Library and then 
joined the Syracuse Uni-
versity Libraries, where 
she headed the Fine 
Arts Department. She 
was later director of 
the Roseville Public Li-
brary in Michigan, then 
returned to higher education, working at the 
University of Washington. Sharrow became  
director of libraries at the University of Mani-
toba and the chief librarian at the University of 
Toronto before joining UC-Davis. Altogether, 
she worked as a librarian for 41 years, compil-
ing a long resume of service on committees and 
boards around the United States and Canada, 
publishing articles and giving presentations and 
speeches, including testifying once on Capitol 
Hill on behalf of the Library of Congress, and 
receiving several awards and grants, including 
a British Council Grant. She served as both 
the president of the Association of Research 
Libraries and as president of the Canadian 
Association of Research Libraries. Sharrow is 
now university librarian emerita.

Delmus Williams has retired as professor of 
bibliography and public affairs librarian at the 
University of Akron after 19 years of service.

Robin Bedenbaugh has been appointed 
learning and outreach librarian at Texas A&M 
University.

Brett Bodemer has been named humani-
ties and social sciences librarian at the Ken-
nedy Library at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.

Peter Chan is now digital archivist on 
the AIMS Project for Stanford University to 
develop best practices for acquiring, captur-
ing, processing, and describing born digital 
materials.

Lea Engle is now learning and outreach 
librarian at Texas A&M University.

Kathleen Gerrity has been appointed 
cataloging librarian in technical services at 
Amherst College.

LaVerne Gray has been appointed learn-
ing and outreach librarian at Texas A&M 
University.

Jared Hoppenfeld has been appointed 
business reference librarian at Texas A&M 
University.

Tom Hyry has been named director of 
special collections at UCLA.

Mary Manning joined the university 
libraries as assistant university archivist at 
Texas A&M University.

Katherine O’Clair has accepted the posi-
tion of agriculture and environmental science 
librarian at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.

Beth Sadler has joined Digital Library 
Systems and Services as a member of the 
Stanford Digital Repository Team at Stanford 
University.

Amanda Xu has been appointed collec-
tion management librarian for information 
technology at the James E. Walker Library of 
Middle Tennessee State University.
