Webster has been appointed dean of libraries at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Webster holds the rank of principal librarian and has a courtesy academic appointment at the H. John Heinz III College of Public Policy and Management. Prior to his appointment at CMU, Webster was vice president and director of academic relations and strategy for the global publishing company John Wiley and Sons. He was formerly dean of libraries and university librarian at the University of Queensland in Australia. His prior positions include university librarian at Victoria University in New Zealand, and head of information rights at HM Treasury, London, United Kingdom. Webster has been an active participant in professional activities and currently serves on the board of directors of the National Information Standards Organiza- tion. Previous posts include chair of the edito- rial board for the Australian Library Journal; vice president of the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa; trea- surer of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals; and secretary of the Institute of Information Scientists. R e t i r e m e n t s Mary Jane Brustman has retired after 30 years at the University at Albany-SUNY (UAl- bany), Libraries. Brustman began her career at the UAlbany as a subject bibliographer and subsequently served as head of the Dewey Graduate Library. For the past five years, she has been the associate director for public ser- vices. Prior to coming to the university in 1983, she was a reference librarian at the University of New Hampshire. Brustman founded the ACRL Criminal Justice/Criminology Discus- sion Group and held leadership positions in the ACRL Education and Behavioral Sciences Section. She authored journal articles and numerous book reviews and served as editor of the Criminal Justice section of Resources for College Libraries. Nancy J. Young, reference librarian and pro- fessor at the University of Idaho, has retired after 15 years of service. She was the library’s Social Sciences liaison to the College of Let- ters, Arts, and Social Sciences. In 2000, Young was one of the team of faculty, librarians, and information technologists that integrated information literacy and technology into the in- terdisciplinary freshman core classes as part of an Idaho State Board of Education grant.
