Mike Furlough has been named executive director for the HathiTrust Digital Library. Stanley Wilder has been appointed dean of the Louisiana State University (LSU) Librar- ies. Wilder most recently served as university librarian at the University of North Carolina- Charlotte for five years. Prior to that period, he was in charge of Information Management Services at University of Rochester as assistant and later associate dean. This new position marks Wilder’s return to LSU, having served as an administrator with the LSU Libraries from 1989 to 1999. Margaret Adeogun is now head of access services at the Robert E. Kennedy Library at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Peter Balestrieri has been appointed curator of science fiction and popular culture in Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Iowa Libraries. Joshua Been is now Social Science data librarian at University of Houston. Mara Blake has joined the Stephen S. Clark Library at the University of Michigan as a spatial and numeric data librarian. Kaila Bussert is now foundational experiences librarian at the Robert E. Ken- nedy Library at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Jake Carlson has accepted the position of research data services manager at the Uni- versity of Michigan’s Stephen S. Clark Library. Matthew Carruthers has joined the Uni- versity of Michigan as a metadata projects Adam Rogers, emerging technology servic- es librarian for the North Carolina State Uni- versity (NCSU) Libraries, has been awarded the first annual Library Staff Award for Ad- vancement by the Board of Directors of the NCSU Friends of the Library for building relationships and partnerships that help to further the libraries’ advancement goals. In the process of helping to place the NCSU Libraries at the fore of the maker movement, Rogers has secured major funding from alumni, established technology partner- ships with industry-leading corporations, developed close partnerships with units across the NCSU community, and supported his colleagues as they sought donations of equipment for key library projects. Easterbrook, George and Mary LeCron Foster Curator of the Melville J. Her- skovits Library of African Studies at North- western University since 1991, has retired. He held numerous leadership positions in ACRL including chairing AAMES (twice) and the International Relations Committee. In ALA, he served as Councilor at-Large and on the International Relations Committee. He also served in various capacities with the Center for Research Libraries, including the Coop- erative Africana Microform Project, the Area Studies Council, and the Global Resources Program. Prior to Northwestern, he held po- sitions at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Indiana University, and Syracuse University. During his four-decade career in librarianship, he held a variety of administrative positions in academic libraries in North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania before joining Creighton University. LaCroix has been active in various professional organizations at the national and state level, including ACRL, LLAMA, United for Libraries, North Carolina Library Asso- ciation, and Nebraska Library Association. In addition, he served on the OCLC Users Council and Members Council as the NEBASE representative for eight years and currently is a Nebraska library commissioner. Virginia S. O’Herron, university librarian at Old Dominion University, has retired. O’Herron joined the Old Dominion Univer- sity as assistant university librarian for Public Services in 1993. During her 20 years with the university, she also served as assistant university librarian for information services, associate university librarian, and as act- ing university librarian. She was appointed university librarian in 2004. O’Herron has held leadership positions with ACRL and the Library Leadership and Management Associa- tion (LLAMA), appointed twice as the chair of the ACRL Standards and Accreditation Committee, served as chair of the Planning Committee of the ACRL Distance Learning Section, and was elected chair of the LLAMA Library Organization and Management Sec- tion. She served on the VIVA (Virtual Library of Virginia) Steering Committee, the SCHEV State Council of Higher Education of Virginia Library Advisory Council, and the Virginia Tidewater Consortium of Higher Education Library Directors Committee. She also serves as an evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Elaine Smyth has retired from the Louisiana State University (LSU) Libraries. Smyth joined the libraries in 1988, as head of the manu- scripts processing unit, and went on to serve as curator of rare books, curator of Special Collections, and head of Special Collections (2006–11). Between 2011 and 2014, she served in the libraries’ central administration, including 16 months as interim dean. Before joining the LSU faculty, she was the rare book cataloger for Cornell University Libraries and worked for W. Thomas Taylor, Bookseller, in Austin, Texas. Farideh Tehrani, preservation librarian at the Rutgers University Libraries in New Jer- sey, has retired. After a rich career with the Pahlavi Library, culminating in the directorship and the head of the planning offi ce for the establishment of Iran’s National Library by the UNESCO National Commission, Tehrani settled in the United States and became head of lending services at William Paterson Uni- versity in 1988. She joined Rutgers’ Alexander Library as head of access services in 1992. In 2003, she became acting associate director of the New Brunswick Libraries, responsible for liaison work with the undergraduate colleges and facilities. In 2006, Tehrani be- came preservation librarian and liaison to the Middle Eastern Studies department. A special achievement was the development of a partnership between the Rutgers Libraries and the Beth Mardutho Library in Piscataway, a signifi cant research collection of materials in Syriac Studies. This partnership has created the eBethArké digital library, enabling these rich resources to be made available digitally with accompanying digital tools for scholars and others.
