Farrell has also has served as as- sociate dean of librar- ies at Montana State University, head of government publica- tions at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and librarian at Ari- zona State University and the Scottsdale Public Library. She has been a member of ACRL since 1989, having served as ACRL division councilor on the Board of Directors (2010–13). Heather Gendron is now director of the Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library at Yale University. Emily Alford is now social sciences librar- ian at the Indiana University-Bloomington Libraries. Switzer has retired after 42 years as a librarian in Colorado. During her career she served as a school librarian, a special librarian at a government secu- rities firm, and an academic librarian. For the past seven years, she has been dean and professor at the University of Colorado-Colorado S p r i n g s ’ K r a e m e r Family Library. Switzer is a past ALA trea- surer and currently is an ALA Endowment trustee and retired New Members Round Table member-at-large. Deaths Richard Fyffe, Samuel R. and Marie-Louise Rosenthal librarian of the college at Grinnell College, has died. Since 2006, Fyffe worked to develop the Grinnell Library’s collections, promote initiatives in information literacy and research skills, strengthen its partner- ships and consortia memberships, and advance technology in service of teach- ing, learning, and re- search. He worked collaboratively with faculty to develop intel- lectual property policies and pass an open access resolution. His innovations helped reinvent the college’s libraries through the creation of a peer-mentoring program for research literacy and by rethinking collec- tions philosophy. Fyffe was also instrumental in the opening of Kistle Science Library and the renovation of Burling Library. Under his leadership, Grinnell received an the ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award in 2011. Fyffe has held leadership roles in the Iowa Private Academic Library consortium and the Oberlin Group consortium, served as cochair of ALA’s Scholarly Communications Committee, was an editorial board member of the peer-reviewed journal College & Research Libraries, and was twice elected as chair of the Board of Directors for the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago.
