ó Guidelines for Submission to COMMOl\rwEALlli: A Journal of Political Science COMMONWEALTH is a journal that annually publishes original re­ search from among all the subfields in the discipline of political science as well as articles of an interdisciplinary nature. It is open to a variety of approaches and methodologies, for it seeks manuscripts that are based on theoretical perspectives (empirical or normative) as well as those that advance knowledge employing an historical approach. Scholars study­ ing Pennsylvania politics and government are especially encouraged to submit manuscripts for consideration. Manuscripts should be produced in Microsoft Word format. The pre­ ferred length is 15 to 30 typewritten pages, including notes, references, tables and any other appended material. Tables and figures should be placed on separate, consecutively numbered pages following the text, with an indication in the text of their approximate placement; these pre­ cf'de any content notes, which are then followed by the list of references. All material should be double-spaced. Three paper copies must be sub­ mitted (no disks or e-mail attachments), and to facilitate blind refereeing the author's name and affiliation should be on a separate cover page. Thus, the first step is to contact the Editor with a proposal to review a number of major texts, currently in print, in any sub field of political science. The proposal should include a complete, fully cited list of alI books to be included in the re­ view. The Editor may consult specialists in the subfield before making a determination on a proposal. If the judgment is to commission an essay, the Editor will provide the reviewer with directions for completing it. PENNSYLVANIA POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION DEPARTMENTAL MEMBERSHIP FORM For a reasonable charge, on a single form, an entire department may join the PPSA.
