Editorial_1_2010.indd Editorial Dear Reader After 34 volumes of Zeitschrift für Bevölkerungswissenschaft – Demographie, the journal will continue under its new name Comparative Population Studies – Zeitschrift für Bevölkerungswissenschaft (CPoS), in a substantially altered form. CPoS will maintain its mission as a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary scientifi c journal on demography and population studies. Yet, from 2010 it appears online on an open access basis, and all articles are published in English and German. The journal ap- pears four times a year. On average, two special issues per year are expected to be coordinated by guest editors. Exclusively unpublished peer-reviewed research pa- pers in demography and related fi elds are published. The papers cover a wide range of topics on demography, as well as on population or family studies with a focus on empirical research, theory, and methods. The journal features articles with a spatial or comparative perspective on regional issues emphasising the German-speaking countries and Europe or on population issues on a global scale. The editorial policy is guided by a scientifi c advisory board. We are glad to be able to rely on the expertise and experience of Jürgen Dorbritz (Wiesbaden), Paul Gans (Mannheim), Johannes Huinink (Bremen), Dirk J. van de Kaa (Den Haag), Marc Luy (Wien), Notburga Ott (Bochum), Peter Preisendörfer (Mainz). All submissions will undergo a double blind review process by two independ- ent reviewers. The review process is supported by a board of reviewers. The jour- nal is thankful for the collaboration of a number of distinct scientists: Martin Abra- ham (Erlangen), Laura Bernardi (Lausanne), Hansjörg Bucher (Bonn), Claudia Diehl (Göttingen), Andreas Diekmann (Zürich), Gabriele Doblhammer-Reiter (Rostock), Henriette Engelhardt- Wölfl er (Bamberg), E.-Jürgen Flöthmann (Bielefeld), Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz (Wien), Beat Fux (Zürich), Joshua Goldstein (Rostock), Karsten Hank (Mannheim), Sonja Haug (Regensburg), Franz-Josef Kemper (Berlin), Hans- Peter Kohler (Philadelphia), Michaela Kreyenfeld (Rostock), Aart C. Liefbroer (Den Haag), Kurt Lüscher (Konstanz), Dimiter Philipov (Wien), Thomáš Sobotka (Wien), Heike Trappe (Rostock). Accepted papers will be published online immediately. The translation service provided by the journal allows bilingual publication. The authors will be granted permission to re-distribute or re-print their articles or parts of it. CPoS endeavours to attain widest distribution and acceptance in scientifi c circles and in the political arena. The journal content is indexed; articles are identifi ed by doi and urn loca- tors and deposited for long term storage in the German Federal Library. Generally, libraries are encouraged to subscribe to the online version free of charge. Selected libraries will be provided with printed copies as well.
