Editorial Associate Professor David Baccarini Associate Professor Peter Davis Welcome to the second issue for 2007 of the Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building. The Department of Construction Management at Curtin University of Technology is delighted to be the host of this year's issues. The variety of papers this Issue reflect the diverse range of problems and challenges facing the construction industry. Jianjian Du, Chunlu Liu and David Picken's paper explores the impact of human resource management economically for international construction projects. With the growth of globalisation and internationalisation of the construction industry, this paper is highly relevant. Marcus Towner and David Baccarini's paper deals with a ubiquitous process within the construction projects - pricing for risk in competitive tenders by construction contractors. The past decade has witnessed a developing maturity and awareness of risk management and this paper adds to our understanding in this area. Mary Hardie, Shahed Khan, Angela O'Donnell and Graham Miller's paper investigate waste management plans within construction, which is an important topic as all industries search for improvement in sustainability. This paper surveys the state of current practice with regard to waste management plans. Peter Davis' paper investigates the contemporary process of alliance and relationship projects. In particular the paper explores the important factors that contribute to relationship maintenance Jan Sundqvist, Bengt Larsson and G6ran Lindahl's paper looks at the nature of the cooperation between building-material manufacturers and contractors and how this affects the development of new construction products.
