Issue1_2009.indb The Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building [Vol 9, No 1] i Editorial Welcome to the fi rst edition of The Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building for 2009. Bond University, and in particular the Mirvac School of Sustainable Development, is delighted to be the host of this journal for 2009 and 2010. Volume 9 Issue 1 consists of six papers covering a range of topics applicable to both quantity surveying and building disciplines. Indeed, we present well-written and interesting papers that refl ect a very high standard. While all of them advance our research and understanding of theory, we are particularly excited that practitioners will fi nd great value in them as well. As Editors, we wish to build on this relevance in future issues, and therefore encourage submissions that make a clear connection between theory and practice. The Australasian Journal of Construction Economics and Building, known as AJCEB to its friends, has increased its reputation and standing in the community over the past nine years, thanks to the guidance of the Editorial Board, the willingness and enthusiasm of guest referees, and the support of all stakeholders. AJCEB is now well known in the Asian-Pacifi c region, and is attracting submissions from all over the world. For this issue we received 21 papers, from which fi ve were rejected and six revised in response to referees’ comments and subsequently published. The remainder are still under consideration for future issues. Three papers are from and about Australia, one from Malaysia, one from Singapore, and one from Thailand. All have clear global relevance. The Editors have plans for the tenth anniversary of AJCEB to encourage discussion among the readership by refl ecting on the development of research in the quantity surveying and building disciplines over the past decade. We also would like to seek and publish book reviews for new releases relevant to our domain. We hope you enjoy this selection of papers, which clearly underlines the scope of AJCEB and its increasingly international readership. Our sincere gratitude is extended to all the referees who continue to provide their assistance, expertise and time reviewing submissions. Many thanks are also extended to David Baccarini and Peter Davis from Curtin University for their stewardship of the journal over the past two years. Well done guys.
