ACKNOWLEDGMENTS FROM THE EDITOR 

 

Coolabah 1 is a dream come true. When Dr. Susan Ballyn invited me to be 

the guest editor of this volume, I accepted without hesitation: I felt honoured 

and wanted this issue to be special. Susan explained the editing process and we 

started to work.  

During the process I had Dr Ballyn’s and Dr. Morera de la Vall´s 

invaluable guidance and support, which I deeply appreciate: they read, 

commented and improved the final version of Coolabah 1: This Foreign Country 

and allowed me the freedom to decide, organise and edit this publication. I 

would also like to thank Dr. Helen Nickas for her works, which are a constant 

stimulation for me and have been an inspiration whilst editing this issue.  

I wish to thank all contributors to Coolabah 1, former exchange students to 

Australia from the Universitat de Barcelona, for their fabulous pieces of writing, 

generous time and enthusiasm in participating in this publication. The process 

of working with each one of you has been a pleasure.   

On a personal note, I thank my mother, Mª José, my father, Rafael, my 

sister, Bárbara, and my friends for their constant support and love throughout 

all the changes in my life: they give me the freedom to be myself and the space 

to grow.   

Needless to say, the mistakes in the editing process are my entire 

responsibility and the copyright of each contribution remains with its author, 

unless otherwise stated.  

I hope all the contributors and readers enjoy the final version of Coolabah 

1: This Foreign Country and take pleasure in reading the different approaches to 

this “foreign country”. Thank you.
