This field, of course, requires linguists to thoroughly study its general and specific laws. This paper widely presents phraseological units expressing positive emotions. Keywords: emotion, phraseological unit, positive, express, expression. It is known that appropriate use of phraseological units increases effectiveness and brightness of the speech. The expression of emotion in phraseological units is divided into groups with positive and negative meanings. An emotion conscious experience that includes enjoyable and painful activities (Panksepp, 2005). Importantly an emotion is different from a mood: emotions are uncontrollable, behavioral and brief, whereas are controllable, cognitive and enduring (Beedie, 2005). We have analyzed the phraseological units expressing positive emotions in the English language by dividing them into the following groups: happiness, gratitude, praise, surprise, affectionate. Firstly, let's analyze the phraseological units of happiness that have a positive character. We cite the following examples of such phraseological units in English: on cloud nine, dance on air, on top of the world, walking on air, in seventh heaven, in high spirits, tickled pink, like a dog with two tails, happy camper, happy as a calm, happy as a lark, happy as a Larry, a happy bunny, happy as a pig in mud, happy little vegemite bursting with joy, happy go lucky, more fun than a barrel of monkeys, many happy returns of the day, jump for joy, stars in one’s eyes, split a gut. All of these phraseological units are used to express an emotional state such as happiness, joy. We have analyzed some of the phraseological units in the English language based on examples taken from the "Dictionary of American Idioms" and English fiction: Tickled pink – very much pleased, or entertained. (The Cherry pit princess, Lyn Manuel, 3) Phraseological units with the meaning of gratitude in English: blessing in disguise, a gracious plenty, an elegant sufficiently, much obliged, thank goodness, thank heavens, Thanks a bunch, thankful for small blessings, like the cat that got the cream, like the cat ate the canary, thank God for small favors, call a spade a spade. Ex: Father knows nearly all languages, even Czech, but thank goodness he doesn’t talk them unless he wants to to tease us. (A young girl’s diary, Paul, 20) English phraseological units with the meaning of praise in English: the cat’s whiskers, cream of the crop, the top banana, the icing on the cake, the cherry on top, the frosting on the cupcake, sing the praises of someone, call a spade a spade, fish for a compliment, blow one’s own horn. Cat’s whiskers – if you describe someone or something as the cat’s whiskers, you are saying light-hearted way that they are the best person or thing of their kind.As far as knowing the market and supplying it are concerned, she is the cat’s whiskers.(Collins cobuld, 62) So, this phraseological unit is an emotional praise phrase used in the process of describing a person or thing to emphasize that it is the best. Phraseological units with the meaning of surprise in English: out of the blue, to do a double take, to be taken by a surprise, to be caught off guard, to stop dead in one’s tracks, to drop a bombshell, element of surprise, jaw drops, to be struck dumb, rooted to the spot, knock someone‘s socks of, words fail me, to raise someone’s eyebrows, a bolt from the blue, an eye opener, blown away, to take someone’s breath away, not believe one’s eyes, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle, jaw- dropping, Throw someone for a loop. Do a double take – to react with surprise; to have to look twice to make sure that one really saw correctly.his phraseological unit is used to express surprise and to look twice in surprise to make sure that one has seen correctly. Ex: Why even begin to question the image of constitutional law as “higher” law? Ex: Oh, my darling, you are the apple of my eye! It can be seen that the role of phraseological units in expressing human feelings and inner experiences is incomparable. Especially, using them wisely helps to make the speech more colorful, understandable and unique. They increase the effectiveness and impressiveness of the language.
